Enjoying the Holidays

Hello and thanks for visiting!  I hope you're enjoying the holidays!

Our youngest son brought our toddler 2 grandsons out for the day yesterday.  I was kind of worried about all the holiday decorations I had spread all over the house, but they were just GREAT with them and just really enjoyed looking at all the ornaments and things.
Below is Hayden posing in the family high chair from 1868 - it was my great grandmother's chair when she was a baby.  I have a photo book of kids in the family over a century plus sitting in the chair.  There is one of me in it too when I was about 2, which my grandmother taped under the seat and that is how I inherited the chair!
We hosted a "Girl's Christmas Luncheon" today for my 2 sisters, daughter and 2 granddaughters.  Dayle made us some chicken noodle soup, my sister Denise made cheese bread with Gruyere cheese baked on top, my sister Roberta made a 7 layer salad and my daughter brought an hors d'oeuvre and iced tea.

Our granddaughter Paige wanted to play "hairdresser" and brush our daughter Amy's hair.  She is so sweet and cuddly!  Jenna was busily coloring with the new "tower" of crayons and coloring books that her great aunt Roberta got for them.  We had a fun gift exchange while listening to Christmas songs on my iPhone - I have a varied collection of carols on it.

With all the decorating done and all the gifts purchased, it will be a pleasant slide into Christmas.  We're having all the kids and grandkids here on Christmas Eve for dinner and a gift exchange.  This has been a great year.

((hugs)) to you all, thanks for visiting, and I hope you're having a wonderful holiday time.

  5. Denise - it's fun to see the children's faces when they see all the decorations and lights. :-)

Meredith - you're so sweet! We're just taking the weekend off to recuperate from this month so far. Every single day has been busy! :-)

Julie - Lunch was for sure yummy. It's nice when everyone brings something to help out.

Erin - Dayle is a great cook! I am very pleased to be the recipient of several heirlooms. I'm just worried that the kids won't want them when I pass on. Oh well, can't worry about that! :-)
