Tea with the Girls

I am very close to my 2 sisters.  We try to go out to lunch often and for years took our elderly mother out once a week so she could have an outing away from her assisted living facility.  We call it "Girl's Lunch".  As my daughter got married and had her two little girls, she joined in fairly often too.  I hosted our "GL" in December which has become a tradition and my younger sister Denise hosted us last month to unveil her kitchen remodel.  My older sister Roberta decided to host a Tea at her house which she did yesterday.  Below is a photo I got of my 2 granddaughters which turned out AdorAble!!
Below is the table laid out before we sat down, Roberta made 3 kinds of tea sandwiches, Denise made homemade scones and lemon curd and brought clotted cream.  I brought a garden salad and garlic herb dressing with bleu cheese crumbles and dried cranberries to toss on top.  My daughter Amy brought a cheesecake.  Roberta's daughter-in-law attended too and brought "Snickerdoodle" cookies.
Tea sandwiches cut in different shapes.
Fresh made scones.
Tea party!  Bringing up the little girls right. :-)  We had tea and visited and played with the girls for 5 hours - it was great fun.  Family is the best.
The girls are picky eaters, here we're trying to convince Paige that a scone is a "cookie biscuit". LOL
Here is the Heart pin I made for sister Roberta -- we think it's the prettiest one I made.
Here is a photo of the Sandy River on my way home.  See the sunset colors in the trees in the upper right?  I thought it was pretty seeing the river reflecting the pretty light blue of the sky near dusk.
Today I presided over the Portland Women's Forum meeting.  I am happy that I got a nice new website built for the organization.  PWF  I have some historic photos to add soon and more history of the site.  But we have a good start on the site.  We had a program today about the The Columbia Gorge Hotel - it was really neat to hear the history of this magnificent hotel with a waterfall behind it!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I'm so glad that you stopped by to visit!

((hugs)) Teresa

  1. The girls are so cute and the photos of them are definite keepers. Your meal with your sisters reminds me of my Mom who really enjoyed doing the same making tea sandwiches and the like. I'm glad you got to give the pin to a very special someone!

  4. How precious this time with your family must be, with your daughter moving away and all.

It reminds me of the sundays when our family used to visit my grandmother. Lovely times!

  9. You are so lucky to have these lovely girly get togethers. I don't have any sisters and although I love my brothers lots it must be fun to have lots of girls in the family. I do appreciate having a daughter though and my mum is my best friend so I shouldn't moan. Oh and the red heart is just gorgeous!
