A Love Story

I met my husband in high school when I was just 14 and he was 16.  I'd gone on a date with another boy and he'd taken me to a pizza parlor and some of his friends sat across from us and one of those boys was named Dayle.   I never dated that boy again, but was asked out by Dayle.  The rest is history. :-)
We dated through school, then he joined the Army and was trained as a helicopter pilot and flew as a scout in Vietnam.  He was shot while flying in the leg and was luckily rescued and taken to a hospital ship for surgery, then brought to Madigan Hospital at Fort Lewis in WA.  I was in Hawaii living with my best friend from high school when he was hurt.

After he recovered we soon married in Louisiana.  We had the first two of our 3 children while living there for 5 years.  We then moved back to our beloved Oregon and had our 3rd child while living in the countryside in the Columbia River Gorge.

After a "marriage break" we remarried on a boat cruise in the Willamette River in Portland with family and friends around us.

We are happily retired and enjoying living on our farm and our joy is our children and grandchildren.

Happy Anniversary, honey! I love you so much I'd marry you again. :-)  Teresa

  13. Happy, Happy Anniversary Teresa! I'm so happy for your wonderful life together.

I, too, married my high school sweetheart. We met when I was 15 and he was 19 and in the Air Force. We married one month after my high school graduation. The rest, as they say, is history. 33 years, 3 children and 2 grandchildren, (so far)!

    Blessings on your marriage.

  18. Your wedding picture is stunning - you look so pretty and your hair is really beautiful. I really enjoyed reading this and the one above too - it sounds like you had a good time during your 'midlife crisis' - my parents both went to live on a boat for theirs! All worked out well for you which is great.
