Heirloom Rose Gardens & My Homespun Yarn

Thanks for visiting today!  I really appreciated all the neat comments about the parade.  You guys rock!  Today we had a "Girls Lunch" with my older sister, Roberta, her DIL Tami, my younger sister Denise, my daughter Amy and my 2 little granddaughters.  Then Denise, Amy, the girls and I headed for a very special rose grower's garden called "Heirloom Roses".  These people do not graft roses onto root stock like so many, their roses are on their own roots, pure from top to bottom.  What a wonderful time we had walking among the beautiful roses in all their gardens!
The first rose I saw.. it's called "The Fawn" and it's what I think of when I think of heirloom roses.
This is the front garden and the shop with the greenhouse off to the right.
Looking across that garden.
The porch on the shop.
They had a raised garden filled with adorable miniature roses!!
A beautiful rose.
I bought 3 roses, this one is one I got, named "Playboy". :-)
A close up.
They then turn this delicious salmon-y orange-y pink.
The 2nd rose I got is called "Outa The Blue".  It opens as a pretty pink and then turns to a pinky-blue.
Below is the newly opened pink on the left and the older bluer one on the right.
They have this long arbor planted on either side with climbers, someday it's going to be covered and will be really spectacular.  Amy is taking of photo of my sister Denise and the 2 girlies.
Another beauty.
A yellow stunner.
Jenna LOVED the roses and smelling them.
Look at that little "rose" peeking through.
My special rose bud.
Then we crossed the road and walked through the 1st garden... see Paige in the pink?
This rose below bordered the grassy path into the garden above.
Sis and daughter looking at the roses.
My FAVORITE was "Oranges 'n' Lemons".  And of course, they were out of them. :-(
Paige running to Grandma. :-)
The 3rd rose I bought.. "The Impressionist", which is a climber and is "exceptionally fragrant.
The Impressionist in several states of openness of bloom.. I love how there are many colors to be seen.
Looking back to garden #1 from #2.

The rose below was a stunner.
I was enjoying the garden from a bench and Baby Girl came and curled up next to me and I covered her with part of my jacket... she cuddled there with me for 15 minutes or so.  Of course I loved that.
I wanted to show you my spool of rainbow wool that I spun on my spinning wheel.  Trying to think if I want to ply it or use it as is.
Since a lot of bloggers are sharing their culinary efforts, here is our dinner last night.  Dayle BBQed the filet mignon and I baked potatoes and steamed asparagus.  Oh yum.
I'm tuckered out again.. but what is life if you don't stop and smell the roses? :-)

Thanks for visiting and again, I super duper appreciate your comments.. it makes it all worthwhile.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  6. Thank you for sharing your photos. It was nice to get away for a bit via your camera and blog. Everything is burnt up by the sun here now.

I think your yarn would wonderful as is a single. You did a great job for not having spun for awhile.

  7. What a lovely post. Your photographs of the roses were fantastic. I love 'The Fawn'. The girls smelling the roses and peeping through the petals were beautiful. The wee one is like a heat seeking missile for a comfy spot isn't she? She clearly loves to snuggle Grandma lately. Your handspun is also beautiful, can't wait to see what it becomes. Did you enjoy spinning again? Rude of you not to invite me for dinner I think!

  9. Those roses just take your breath away! Absolutely beautiful :) Part of me thinks there needs to be a little tea parlor in that little shop next to the gardens. The setting very much reminds me of a parlor owned by a wonderful woman not far from where I went to college. How lovely! Your homespun is rather neat looking as well. Such wonderful colors! Any plans for it yet?

  10. Beautiful garden shots. I have never seen that many roses all in one place. This posting rocks just too many colors for me to take in one reading, so I'll be back again.

Please, please show us more about the spinning. I so want to start this, but have yet to figure it all out. Beautiful first picture.

  11. Roses are one of my favourites Teresa (next to daffodils!) but my garden is too small for them so I loved seeing all these lovely photos. I could almost smell them from here, what lovely varieties they had. Enjoy your new ones - beautiful!
    Have a great weekend,
    Jane x
