Mist & Driving with the Top Down

Yesterday my sister Denise and I volunteered at Multnomah Falls.  It was busy there!  Lots of visitors and people enjoying the cool mist of the falls on a hot summer day.  I love this shot when I was zooming in on the bridge and the people were waving at us.
Zooming in on the bottom of the falls...
The bottom pool.
The falls... showing more bottom.
 Showing the top.
Zooming in on the top.
The little rapids down the creek.
The flowers and ferns are flourishing in the mist of the falls.
Do you have Salmon Berry plants where you live?  They are a wild plant here.
Ocean Spray, a wild shrub here.
Wildflowers out front of the lodge.
Heading home I pull out at the viewpoint.  Nice day!
Rooster Rock and Vista House at Crown Point.
Blackberries growing wild at the viewpoint.  These are a very invasive plant here, they are Himalayan blackberries and have taken over Oregon and are VERY difficult to get rid of.  We've been doing battle with them here on the farm for years.
Hubby had been running errands, watering the deck plants and riding his mower while I was gone.  We decided to drive to town for dinner and got a text from my son inviting us to join him and his family at Flying Pie pizza, so we headed there and had a fun time with them, having salad bar and pizza.  We took his little Tbird, which he won in a raffle in 2002.  We were listening to the Beach Boys on the way to town and enjoying ourselves immensely.
On the way home we listened to The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Band album.  I adore this album and used to be able to sing along, knowing every single word to the songs.  When it came to the song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" I thought of my great blog friend Lucy at "In the Sky Blog".  She recently told us about doing a preemie hat project and I told her I'd do 5 hats and donate them to my local hospital that needs them the most.  This was my first one, but I think I need to give this one to a doll and use a finer yarn for the next ones.
When we arrived home I thought the evening light was pretty on our barn, so Dayle pulled the little convertible down into the pasture so I could click this photo.  People driving down the road looked surprised to see us sitting in the little black convertible in the middle of our pasture. :-)
Today we're enjoying summer and I will go swimming.  It's Friday the 13th, so be careful out there!  Do you have fun plans for the weekend?  We have no plans.. maybe we should make some!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

My youngest son was a premie (born 2 months early)---I think it is AWESOME that you will be blessing some babes and their families by making them little hats!!
Ah--himalayan blackberries! The curse of the PNW landowners except for those few weeks when they provide some very yummy berries:)
As to this weekend...yes we have plans for one day and my best friend and I have plans for the other one.
    Blessings,
    Aimee
PS: LOVE your first photo--awesome picture!I also really like your barn's design. The Beach Boys...yea:)

  4. Another beautiful day at the falls followed by pizza with the kids. What more could you ask for? No, we don't have that fun wildflower. It sure is pretty though. Great pictures as always. I'm here doing my rain dance. Not a drop yet, but there is a cloud in the area. When they say the midwest is in a drought they mean it, that's for sure.

  5. Lovely day you have had teresa. Lovely , lovely photos bringing it all alive for us. Today I have caught up on a few more chores, some rain again then I did some crafting and whilst in middle of that DS - the younger came round. He's not well again - he is a worry sometimes even though he's now 34 :-). I'm off to card class tomorrow and going with my Auntie to a concert at The Symphony Hall in B.ham - think it's the London Symphony orchestra playing. DS said that as weather looks to be better for Sunday he may do a BBQ!!!! Yeah Love Anne x

  6. Such a great post. Beautiful photographs...I love your preemie hat, I am sure it will be perfect for someone. I must get to work on that...it feels great to be doing something. I must say I have never seen a Salmon berry can you eat them? Blackberries are taking over in my garden too and they are nasty to try and get rid of...if Dayle finds a way send him over here please :) xxx

    1. Lucy, does your yard have room for hubby's tractor? That's what he's used to get rid of our blackberries - you have to keep them mowed down and they eventually die. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  10. Such beautiful photographs Teresa :) I can't believe you won your car in a raffle!!! Absolutely amazing :) Blackberries are quite native to the UK and I remember going blackberry picking when we went camping, but I'm sorry they're being a pest to you guys!!

Have a lovely weekend, send us some sunshine as it's been nothing but rain here, and what I wouldn't do to need that nice cooling waterfall mist you have! xx

  11. Do those blackberries taste good? We have some wild ones growing in our back yard but not sure what species. Hopefully we will go to our little town's annual parade and tomorrow they have some festivities including a giant model train display. It will be a nice weekend since I am on a break from studying.

    1. Mary, the blackberries are big, juicy and sweet. But the vines are awful, full of dangerous thorns, they grow fast and cover whole buildings and are very difficult to eradicate, you have to dig these huge roots out as they tunnel underground and spread terribly. If a cane touches the ground, it sprouts roots and starts more runners. Ugh. When I have cut them, the thorns grab you and cut you viciously.

  18. You got some great shots of the falls Teresa. I love the one that shows the whole lot from top to bottom - just spectacular. I don't believe I've ever seen or heard of salmon berries - perhaps we don't have them here. I am familiar with blackberries though and LOVE blackberry jam (I believe you call it jelly) .. you should make some. I make lots of preemie hats and think that the finer yarns are much nicer for those tiny little heads. I like to use what we call 4ply - I think you might call it fingering. Oh how I wish there was a universal measure/weights for yarn. Have a nice weekend. xoxox

  19. Oh, I love these posts of the Falls, you have really inspired me to visit your area one day, probably in about 20 years or so when the kids leave home!
I've never seen a Salmon Berry, what a sweet little plant.
