Lunch at the Farm With Gracie

Today my blog friend Gracie came to visit and I prepared lunch for us.  I was planning to make shrimp and avocado salad.  When I got the shrimp out of the freezer I looked at it expecting little pre-cooked salad shrimp (what I asked hubby to pick up for me) and lo and behold, they were raw bigger shrimp!  I had to quickly switch gears - so I made up the rest of the salad stuff and right before Gracie arrived I minced one garlic clove and sauteed it in butter, then added the raw shrimp and cooked it until done.  I used Dayle's parent's iron frying pan..
Sliced brown mushrooms, a perfectly ripe avocado...
Gracie arrived and lunch was ready.. chopped tomatoes, whole black olives and 1,000 Island dressing.. all set!  I'm so happy that I have collected enough vintage Jadeite to serve a lunch for at least 4 people.. :-D
I challenged Gracie to who could arrange the prettiest salad on their plate.. LOL!
Here is mine.
Here is Gracie's... who wins?  We both did, it tasted great!
After lunch we retired to the family room where we visited and I did some more computer "consulting" with Gracie on how to use her MacBook Pro - and Dayle came in to show us Egg #2!!  This is a good size for a "pullet egg" which are usually quite small.  Buffy is doing good!
Buddy made good friends with Gracie, she liked him and he accepted her as "family".
I served pumpkin pie for dessert. :-)
We sure had a nice afternoon.. Gracie did some tweaking to her blog.. check it out and tell her I sent you. :-)  One Saylor's Log  Thanks for visiting.. I wish you could have joined us!!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  12. I somehow missed your last couple of posts. LOVE the way your shawl turned out...so pretty. I just love that yarn. I looked at what I bought because I had forgotten, and I got 4 skeins of the rose/purple colors, and the one called Earth which is browns. I love them both.

Your luncheon looks so yummy, as does everything you make! It looks so fresh. That pumpkin pie really got my saliva flowing. It is that time of year, isn't it? It's my hubby's favorite pie. Guess I'll need to make one soon too.

  13. So glad you and Gracie are close enough to visit. That is really something. Your lunch looked nice even though I'm not a shrimp person. I'm really not much of a fish/seafood person at all.

Love the picture of Gracie and Buddy. I'm on my way to take a look at Gracie's blog.

    Have a great weekend.

    Hugs,
    Sharon
