Morning Light

Let me begin by telling you that Buffy the Buff Orpington hen has been clucking up a storm this morning, so hubby went out to check to see if we had our FIRST egg from our 5 young hens.. when he opened the door to come in I looked at him expectantly and he shakes his head and says.. "Nothing, yet."  Dang!  LOL!
I've been waiting anxiously for the yarn to come from JoAnns that I ordered online, so I could finish the lacy edge of the shawl I've worked on for weeks.. and I've crocheted some booties while waiting.. still no yarn.. so yesterday I crocheted a wash cloth in bright yellow cotton.  I've got it displayed on yet another addition to my Jadeite collection, an oval platter.  My Majolica chicken atop the cloth.
I love using my own handmade cloths to wash up in the kitchen.
I can't wait to use this at Thanksgiving dinner.
My ceramic pumpkin.. I love it, it will never rot.  :-)

I wanted to share with you the Autumn light shining over the farm today, I snapped this at 10:30 am - there is a haze in the air from forest fire near Sisters, Oregon.  We've been smelling smoke in the air for weeks now.  I'm actually hoping for rain!  Looking out over the farm yard...
Our Begonia is still blooming...
Sun shining through the leaves of the weeping Birch.
I've got my Fall wreath on the back door.  Now to get some pumpkins!
My daughter took our granddaughters to a holiday shop and snapped a photo of the girls with these cute cat masks on.  We get to see them in a few weeks when we fly to Ohio!  We'll be there for Jenna's 8th birthday!  We are very excited.
I will leave you with a wonderful video of the Columbia River Gorge, shot in a totally unique way with music.  I do hope you watch it.  It was done by the same people that shot the movie of my nephew's wedding at VooDoo Donuts!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. Wow thanks for sharing the video...it really is stunning. It is hard to describe in words but the artistry and subject matter is amazing. Very humbling stuff. I was so hoping for news of an eggs. My new hen is laying eggs the size of a pigeons egg! I do hope they get bigger. lol. I think your dishie looks like a winner too, you can't beat a thick and sturdy home made dishcloth. It will be my pattern of choice next time I get the dishcloth urge. I know how you feel waiting for yarn...you need 'the patience of Job'. The girls are looking cute, I bet you all can't wait to be reunited. XXX

  8. The farm...love it! And I really like the dishcloth you cranked out! =) Great colors! Your grand-daughters are adorable! What fun to go see them! I bet they love getting the chance to see you guys! My begonia is still blooming too...but probably not for long...we'll get some pretty cold nights in the next few weeks. That'll finish off the blooms! Take care, Teresa!

  9. Great photography in that video - I was a bit alarmed when I saw that guy jump from those rocks but I think we did see him swimming in the water a minute or so later. Beautiful scenery. I loved your dishcloth Teresa - might have to make one like that next time I do a cloth. I copied and saved your pattern - thanks. Have a good day xoxox

  10. Love your dishcloth Teresa! Years ago a co-worker gave me a similar handmade cloth--except hers was meant for use as a washcloth. To this day it is one of the most favorite gifts I have ever been given and I think of her whenever I use it!
Your begonia is amazing--love that color!
Bet your granddaughters are as excited as you about your upcoming visit:)
    Blessings,
    Aimee
PS: It must be all the haze, heat and dryness. I find myself ready for -- a little -- rain too.

  13. The video is so exciting! Such wonderful artistry and a great tribute to the life of the Columbia River. I have my autumn wreaths out too, but the house is going to be stained tomorrow so I can't hang the wreaths yet. When I was at my friend's house in San Jose I read a chapter in one of the Little House On The Prairie books where Rose put some china doorknobs in her chickens' nests to encourage them to lay eggs : ) Thanks for sharing the pattern for the dishcloth...yet another project I want to try! I'm looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, too! xxx from Gracie

  15. Oh wow that video is amazing! The shots of the woods reminded me of a book I started to read yesterday evening - and the book reminded me of you because it takes place in the surroundings of Portland, Oregon! It's called Wildwood (by Colin Meloy). Love your wreath, and I can't wait to read about your upcoming visit to Ohio! How exciting! :-) xxxx

  17. I was totally engrossed in the video. The one thing I love about reading blogs is the snapshot of life around this wonderful planet we call home. Thanks so much for sharing the video.

Love the dish cloth and the ceramic pumpkin. Your home is really taking on the fall look. It makes me want to get busy and get out my decorations.

How exciting to visit your family in Ohio. Grandchildren are the best thing in life.

    Hugs,
    Sharon
