Bloggy Friends & Creative Pursuits

At the end of my last post I mentioned that we would be going to my youngest sister's home for a Christmas dinner with all 4 of us siblings and our spouses.  I had an idea for some ice colored tree earrings, so I made a pair for my only brother's wife as a gift and stuck them in my card for them.  She loved them and she looked so good in them!  For those of you new to my blog, that is our barn in my card image.  :-)
I don't have these on my Etsy shop, but I do have the green ones, and if you want these crystal trees, you could buy the green ones but tell me you want the clear. :-)
Swarovski crystal is so pretty, sparkly and well-made.
My sister had such a delicious meal for us - ham, cheesy potatoes, cooked carrots and a fresh baked roll.  I don't have any photos of all of us as we just chatted through dinner, and relaxed in the family room after and I crocheted on a gift while we visited.  But we had a great family evening.
Then yesterday I had lunch with 2 of my blog friends, Taci from Taci Studio and Gracie from One Saylors Log. We had SO much fun chatting away, getting to know Taci - face to face for the first time.  She's just adorable, born in Brazil, a social worker, wife and mother to 2 teens.
We each surprised each other with a small handmade gift!   Taci gave us some adorable rag crocheted birds, Gracie made us a yellow crocheted star and I gave the girls a pair of my earrings.  :-)
Gracie and I have met for lunch many times now and have visited each other's homes.  Taci invited us both to join her knitting/crocheting group when she hosts it at her house in February!
We met at Bumpers Grill in Fairview and I had my favorite thing there - grilled beef tenderloin and stuffed potato. :-)
Gracie was wearing this adorable little hand crocheted wreath pin.. I examined it closely and got excited to try making some!
As we rose to leave, I found a waitress to take our photo.  I am so happy that I began blogging a few years ago - it's opened a whole new world of friendship opportunities!  You can never have to many friends, can you?  :-)
Taci had to go on to work, but Gracie and I decided to meet up at Craft Warehouse, where I planned to find the materials to try to make a little wreath pin.  Here is my "haul" from CW!
And I found some tiny wreathes for my dollhouse - I saw some on Claudia's (Mockingbird Hill Cottage) little house and was inspired to decorate my house.. you can imagine what I'll be doing this weekend. :-)
Some little bottle brush trees for around the porch...
The absolute cutest little bag of miniature skeins of little cotton yarns with sparkly threads throughout.  ::swoon::
One of these will look cute on the dollhouse - the rest can be hung on all my trees or on gifts.. ok, they'll go on the trees.  :-)
And a bag of really jingly jingle bells!  I've needed these for many projects - now I have them. :-)
Floss and rings to try making my own wreath pins.. some bigger rings to make some for the tree!  Red ribbon that Gracie found for me... for bows.  Hubby goes... what are you going to do with all that STUFF??  I go.. sheesh.. :-)
Last night I spotted Lucy curled up on the back of the love seat and grabbed my camera.. isn't she cute?
I finished up my Christmas shopping after my visit to the craft store - now to wrap them, and pick up our smoked turkey at White's Meat today - that's what we're having for Christmas dinner, along with scalloped potatoes, corn casserole, candied yams, rolls and sparkling cider.  The boys and their families will be here with us and we'll open gifts after dinner.  Fun times!!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Look at you, still crafting away. What a great haul. Fun seeing some of the new yarns, since my fingers haven't touch any in a long long time. I may just have to get back at it. By the way, I do love eating virtually at your postings. What food you have my pretty??? Meat and Veggies, yeah... potato not so much, but it sure looks great. Back in the day, I would not have thought twice, it would be gone. Have a great weekend and Merry Christmas, if I don't see ya around.

Your post is so full of delicious looking crafty things, but I think my favorite by far are the tiny skeins of yarn. Just my thing. Have a wonderful Christmas my friend.

  10. You are one whirlwind of a lady, always up to doing something and planning already for the next day. I don't know how you manage to find the time to do all that you do. It makes my head spin. I would settle for just a few days of staying home and just relaxing. We are getting snow tonight. I drove home on the turnpike in it. My hubby is better but still can't come home just yet. Tomorrow I will stay home and do a few things here. Isn't it such fun to receive and give gifts! I love the home made ornaments the best. It is what I use to do when I did my craft shows. You look like you are enjoying this holiday season, so happy for you.
