500th Blog Post!!

I am happy to celebrate my 500th blog post in 2 1/2 years of blogging!  I have really enjoyed it - and the BEST part EVER is meeting YOU!!  Thanks for being a part of my life. :-)

It took 2 days and mostly 2 people - but the gazebo is done. Dayle and Kristi, our DIL, did most of it with some help from our 2 boys, Travis and Shawn on the finishing part.  I am really not sure what to call it, the manufacturer called it a "trellis".  And it's not a true gazebo, and it's kind of a pergola. I thought of "dining pavilion".. lol!  But I like the sound of gazebo.. I don't know what to call it.  What do you think?  Now.. I had wanted to "stage" it for the photos, but mother nature decided to rain on our parade, so here it is without a tablecloth, or crocheted throws and pillow.. without the lantern or faerie lights.  Maybe I can do that when the sun shines again.
We are going to plant those Jasmine plants in pretty pots and train it to climb up the trellis'.  It frames up the waterfall and pond nicely.
I definitely want some more colorful chair cushions.. these are drab and grey and worn.
Looking south to the barn and our mossy garage and shed.
Rain, rain, go away.
Remember I told you about the lady in my "We Love Lucy II" group that is battling cancer - and that another lady in our group organized us all to make some granny squares to send to her so she could sew them together for a blanket for her?  We also were supposed to take a photo of our squares in front of a local landmark - so here is my photo with the Columbia River Gorge behind them. :-)  (You can join the Facebook group by clicking on the link on my blog - top right.)
On Monday when Kristi and my son Travis were visiting and helping us out around the farm, I asked Caleb if he'd like grandma to trim his curls a bit, they were in his eyes and he said yes.  I got permission from Kristi and I got my scissors and brush and got busy.  He *loves* his curls, so I was a bit nervous, hoping I would do a good job.  I must confess, that after I'd done the trim, I was worried I'd messed up... so I whisked him into the house and we washed his hair in the sink and I was SOOOOOOOOO relieved to see it all curled right back up.  ::WHEW::  Then I trimmed Hayden's hair on his neck and ears and he looked very nice too.  Here are my blurry, wiggle-y, hard to photograph little darlings.  I showed Caleb the photo and told him his hair was blue.. lol!  He said it was the tv, grandma!
They love each other and giggle and wrestle and hug and tumble and are so cute.
Today I am heading off to volunteer at Multnomah Falls with Shirley.  Denise is ill with a cold.  She just got back from Ashland, OR where they watched 6 plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.  Next month they had to Russia!!  Also next month my daughter and 2 granddaughters are visiting for 10 days!  Woohoo!  I hope you have a fun weekend planned.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. I think I'd call it a pergola, maybe a gazebo! Whatever it's called, it looks really nice. Maybe you need to crochet some new covers for those chairs. Haha, I don't know if that would hold up to the weather though. But you could sew new covers, if you can find the outdoor fabric on sale, it wouldn't be too hard to make sort of sleeve-like covers you could slip over the old ones to brighten the chairs up. You give good haircuts! The boys look great. What a versatile grandma you are! :)

  3. Whoo-eee!!! 500 posts! That's wonderful Teresa!

I love, love, love your GAZEBO. I like gazebo. Of course you can name it whatever you like. :-) It's so perfect in your backyard.

Somehow I missed the posts on facebook about the squares. Can you text me with the details when you get a chance?

The boys look so cute together and you did an outstanding job on the haircuts too. How great that they get along so well. And you'll see your grandgirls soon. Yippee! I know that has you waiting with bated breath.

Have a lovely time at the "Falls" Teresa. I'm so blessed to have you as a friend.

    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. Your gazebo is gorgeous all on its own, but I know you will have it looking even better as time goes by. I can see all kinds of plants and flowers and other bits of color (some bright pillows maybe?)to liven the joint up. I think the neutral, plain furniture is a good choice. Gives you more opportunity for splashes of this or that color.

Happy 500th post! Congrats! So glad I've gotten to know you and your family through your blog...and I've gotten to see beautiful bits of Oregon too. I'd never have known what I was missing! Love and hugs. Would love to look you in the eyes some day and kiss your cheek.

  10. Hello Teresa, it has been 7 weeks since I have been visiting anyone. I was without my internet and ended one contract and now have another provider, so back to the blogs I come and as usual I see plenty of lovely things right here on your posts. I love the new structure on the deck. I think it looks wonderful and like anything it will take some time to get use to being part of your landscape. I am sure when you finish dressing it up it will be something you will spend a lot of time admiring. It should be a fun spot for out door dining and just a great gathering place. I checked back and saw all the beautiful flowers you shared and I am thinking you have pretty green thumbs. Your beading is another sweet talent. I wore one of the pairs of earrings I got from you and received several nice compliments :)
    As always, Susanne ♥

  20. Fantastic 500!!!!! Blogging is an exciting creative outlet that allows one to explore different forms of artistic expression with the added benefit of rapid response to our efforts, from others....instead of pen pals, computer comrades :-) at any rate, I am enjoying it and am so glad you are, too, Teresa!

I request a reservation at your Great Gazebo, please. And the promise of Jasmine is so lovely~~~~

Your Grand Boys are grand and I am so excited for you that Amy and her family will soon be with you for 10 DAYS :-)

PS : have you seen Alicia Paulson, June 3, http://www.rosylittlethings.typepad.com/
they where :" Go to Multnomah Falls on the old Columbia River Highway and be enveloped in green. If it's raining, so much the better. Green grass, green mist, grey rocks wet with rain, rocks everywhere, green trees. Everything smells of mud and rock and water and green things. Wildflowers and weeds that flower. The falls are high, and there's vertigo. I've been up on the bridge one time, long ago, and I didn't like it. It's as high up and close to the water and as disorienting as it looks, and I was scared."
