Back to School & Changes

My granddaughters started school in Ohio - my daughter Amy sent photos of them on their first day.  They are so cute and love their teachers!  This is Paige, who just turned 5!
Getting on the bus.
Jenna climbing aboard her bus, she's 8, soon to be 9.
I'm so glad I got to spend time with my girls this summer.  Next summer we're going to try to fly to Ohio to spend time with them.  I can't believe I only get to see the girls once a year.  Wah!
My pot of moss roses and Lantana is still bringing joy to me.
I think Lantana is one of the most interesting flowers, from it's bud stage, then it flowers out, each petal opening to yellow, then orange, then pink!
I finished Caleb's Teddy Bear - woohoo!  I've made 6 of these, one for each grandkid.
Both boys with their bears, they slept with them last night.
Now for the news - our son Travis has always wished that he could live back here in Corbett where he was born and grew up and that his sons could go to school here - so now our household numbers 6 instead of 2.  His family has been living with his brother's family in Vancouver for nearly a year, so we talked and decided that since we have room that they'd move here and we'd enroll Hayden in kindergarten - and his first day was today!  That is the principal out there directing traffic.  Hayden is standing by the flag pole.  The Corbett Schools are rated as one of the best in the nation.
And here is Hayden in his new classroom!
He was doing very well when his mommy and grandpa left to come home.
And so.. life is different and changing.  :-)  Thanks for visiting!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Beautiful grandchildren! How hard it must be for you to only see the girls once a year! I'm glad you will see the other grands all the time now they're moving back. It won't make up for missing the girls but will just be lovely. Enjoy! Joan

  2. Those are wonderful photos of your granddaughters--what beautiful young ladies they are! I know how hard it is not seeing them often as we went through that for quite awhile. I sincerely hope that you will be able to see them more often and am glad to hear you will see them next summer!
This IS good news and I'm SO happy for you (and your son's family)! I think it will be good for all of you:)
LOVE both teddy bears--they are awesome!
    Blessings,
    Aimee
PS: Wishing your grandson Hayden a wonderful year! Kindergarten is the best:)

  3. Changes...you ain't kidding! That's a BIG change for all of you. I hope it works out well for everybody. I took pictures of my Lantana yesterday to post on my blog. Will do it soon. It's really pretty right now with fresh blooms on it. It always does well here and tolerates the heat. Haven't made the sourdough recipes yet or made a starter, but I will.

  4. Oh Teresa, when you say change you really mean it. That is a big, big change. I hope that it will be a comfortable situation for all of you. The little boys will be so happy, I think they already feel your home is their home. And I know you will love to be there for them when they get home form school and see them everyday, but is will be an adjustment for all of you. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs and great job on the bear. Oops I almost forgot the girls look so happy to be starting school.
    Hugs to you,
    Meredith

  6. That is a big change! Good for you guys. I think that's wonderful and I hope it works out well for all of you. I also love to hear that you're going to try to visit the girls; that you're willing to do that is just amazing in my eyes. I think you are terrific grandparents and you get more and more wonderful the more I hear about you and the things you do with and for your family. :)

  7. Hi Teresa your grandchildren are so beautiful. The teddy bears so cute. I know some of the pain of missing your grandchildren and daughter(though I do see my grandsons a lot more often than you are able to see the girls. ) How exciting that your son and family are living with you. Hop everything works out fine. We will soon be looking after Phoebe on Monday and Tuesday afternoons and collecting Ella from school on Tuesdays. Phoebe is starting a new nursery (part of the school she will attend in Sept 2014 and where Ella is at school) It is only mornings though so Grandma and Gramps are helping out as we did with Ella. Hugs Anne x

  9. Love the pics of your granddaughters first day of school. They look so happy, they are so cute. I was surprised that your son doesn't live closer than he does since so many pics are of the grandsons. I hope all goes well in that department. When my in-laws decided to move to Ohio from Kentucky 34 years ago they stayed with us 3 months. I was in my 9th month of pregnancy with our youngest daughter and so my mil was a great help to me. I loved them when they came and I loved them when they moved to their own place, lol. We went from 3 to 5, then 6 when the baby came. You give up a lot of things when you want to help family, mainly peace, quiet and some privacy. I know your grandsons are gonna love it. The teddy bears turned out so cute and looks like they are already getting some lovin' from the boys. I know as a grandma that we do all we can to help our kids and grand kids. Who else is gonna love them as much as we do ♥

  11. Just as the petals of your Lantana develop beautiful arrays of color, it seems to me your family is positioned to experience amazingly beautiful experiences as well, Teresa. Circumstances may develop to challenge your familie's loving growth just as stormy weather can challenge a Lantana's growth, but I am cheering you all on to enjoy the beauty you have and lovingly work through any challenges!
    Blessings,
    Gracie xx

  12. The kids all look so cute on their first days of school. I know how much your heart aches with missing the girls!
Hayden looks a wee bit unsure in that last picture. I hope he had a great day too.
We have more in common than you know. We need to have a telephone conversation very soon.
    Hugs to you sweet friend!

  14. I just thought of this song after reading your lovely post xx

One more step along the world I go,
One more step along the world I go.
From the old things to the new
Keep me travelling along with you.

    Chorus
And it's from the old I travel to the new,
Keep me travelling along with you.

Round the corners of the world I turn,
More and more about the world I learn.
All the new things that I see
You'll be looking at along with me.

    Chorus

As I travel through the bad and good
Keep me travelling the way I should.
Where I see no way to go
You'll be telling me the way, I know.

    Chorus

Give me courage when the world is rough,
Keep me loving though the world is tough.
Leap and sing in all I do,
Keep me travelling along with you.

    Chorus

You are older than the world can be,
You are younger than the life in me.
    Ever old and ever new,
Keep me travelling along with you.

    Chorus

    Words: Sydney Carter (1915-2004)

  17. Hi Teresa! The first blog I opened when I got home from the lake this morning is yours and what BIG news you have! Oh my, the changes your household is facing but it could be a WoNdErFuL change. I would love to have my grandbabies so close by.

What great pictures of the first day of school for all four of your kids. The girls look very happy to be getting on the bus. What a brave kindergartner. The boys look very happy to be going to the Corbett school too.

We're facing possible changes next year too with my dear MIL moving in with us. She hasn't made a for sure decision yet but it looks as though it's heading that direction. Oh my, life will change!

    Blessings always my friend.

    Betsy

  21. Oh Teresa this is so lovely! So are they living with you for good now? I've read a lot about multi-generational homes and it strikes me as being such a good idea that I wonder why more people don't - I guess it's a space issue :) Still, it will be so nice for the boys to see so much of you and Dayle :) x
