A Thanksgiving Feast

Well.. how was your Thanksgiving dinner?  For those in other countries, I sure wish you could have this holiday.. giving thanks for everything and a big yummy dinner with family and friends.. what's not to love?  Dayle roasted a 25.5 lb. fresh turkey and it turned out spectacular and delicious!

Kristi made a big batch of deviled eggs, unfortunately the eggs were very fresh and it took her 45 minutes to peel them as the shells were not coming off easy.  She called them "misery" eggs.  :-)  They were delish!

Kristi was amazingly helpful yesterday, she peeled my fresh yams and my son Travis chopped them (they are very hard) and she also peeled my potatoes.  I have always been the potato masher.  I also made the giblet gravy, Dayle cooked and chopped them for me.

Turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, candied yams, corn casserole, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, home made orange cranberry sauce and fresh baked rolls, along with Martinelli's sparkling cider and pumpkin pie for dessert!  :-)

Before we dined, we went around the table and told what we're thankful for.  Caleb was thankful for our family, all the food we made and his cousins, Mike and Gabe.  We were all thankful for our family and the good meal.  Want a bite?

My son Shawn, his wife Beth, their boys Mike and Gabe.. and grandpa.

Our son Travis, his wife Kristi, Caleb and Hayden.

This morning when I came out to the family room this is what I saw - Grandpa piled with little boys and a dog all covered up with a blanket.

I did manage to finagle the guys into putting up our new Christmas tree today - then we had leftovers and we have been relaxing and watching Percy Jackson and the Olympians on TV.  I will begin the decorating tomorrow.  The amazing thing about this tree is you can turn it on white lights, colored lights, or blinking back and forth.  :-)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, wherever you are on this wonderful spinning globe.  Thanks for visiting!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. God has blessed you with a loving family and his bounty. Hard work by all made your meal wonderful. It looks delicious. I baked a 23+ turkey and a spiral ham, made green bean casserole, corn, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes with gravy. had some cranberry sauce. I experimented with a combination of 2 recipes for a first time making bread/herb dressing. Everyone said it was great. I usually make a corn bread dressing but this year was different. I didn't take pictures, I was just too wrapped up in getting everything on the table and exhaling, lol

  7. Your dinner looks amazing! Our turkey was a 22 pounder and we've been nibbling leftovers all day. Yum. I really like your tree. Since we'll be gone most of the holidays I'm thinking of not putting a tree up this year. Hmmmm. I've said that before but usually end up putting it up anyway. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  10. Teresa, once again you and Dayle have outdone yourselves with the help of your family of course. I would say you have so much to be thankful for, just like all of us. It is wonderful to have this holiday, to be with family and friends, no presents, no religion just gratitude.
    Hugs,
    Meredith

  13. Belated Thanksgiving wishes to you all, what a great time you had with your loved ones. I really wish we had this holiday here as well.

But tomorrow we are having a big family meal as it is my DH's birthday so my mum (who hasn't been too well recently) and brother are coming along, so we have a lot to be thankful for.
