Wild Arts Festival 2013

I went to the Audubon Society Wild Arts Festival yesterday.  It's always a treat!  Some of the most amazing art and crafts are there, everything has to be from the natural world or paintings and photos of nature.  They also have several rescue birds to show to people.  I am not sure this owl was in a good mood. :-)

But he's cute, isn't he?

Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore".

One of my favorite vendors is a couple who's company is called "Made in Paradise" from Vashon Island in the San Juan islands that makes vases and lamp bases of stones.  Aren't they cool?

And a pair of potters that make the most amazing things!  Their company is named "Fired Up Ceramics".

I love the spotted bowls.

A pretty hawk, but I forgot to ask what kind!  A Red Tail Hawk? (ETA - It's a Peregrine Falcon - I just saw one on Jeopardy!)

Isn't this Kestrel cute?  I'm sorry I didn't photograph more of the art and crafts but I was also meeting a woman from Vista House to scout for more items for the gallery - and she was showing me the items she's picked out, so I was a bit busy to take photos.

Before we went to the show we went to lunch at Besaw's - started in 1903.

I asked my sister to join me, then asked Shirley if she wanted to come, then she asked her brother and his wife, then her best friend and her husband and pretty soon we had a party of 8!  :-)

When I got home it was sunset and I'd seen Mt. Hood all pink so I 4-wheeled up the hillside behind the house hoping to snap a photo of it, but it wasn't pink anymore, so I snapped the sunset.

That is Portland, Oregon way out there.

I thought I'd show you that all the leaves that were on the oak and chestnut are already down and blown away.  We are having our famous East Winds, gusting to 76 mph!  It's cold too, at 46 in the day and mid 30's at night.  Brrrr!

My one purchases was a stone vase, it's on the left, the one on the right I got last year.  The light one is granite, the dark one is "chocolate jade".  I'd seen a poor little rose freezing outside, so I went out and cut it for my new vase, along with some rose hips.

I hope the rose opens!

I've never heard of chocolate jade, have you?  It was found in the Snake River in Wyoming.

Our son and DIL are off for the afternoon and we have the boys.  I think we need to take them for lunch and a chocolate sundae!!  :-)  Thanks for visiting!  Did you have a good weekend?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. Beautiful pictures of the birds and crafts! The owl does not look happy at all. I love the picture of the barn and the sunsets. I don't get to see many sunsets as I work evenings/nights. But I did get a great one yesterday. I will have to post it.

  6. Goos post with fun photos. Sunset photos are lovely. The stone vases are unique. Nice day out for a run around afternoon for us after church. Went to Colony Pub in Aurora for lunch then to Aurora Colony museum to visit with my fav author, Jane Kirkpatrick. Bought 2 of her books and she signed them. I have enjoyed that museum for years. Nice to have husband with me, he read and looked at displays in museum then meg up with me. Just in time to take a couple photos of Jane and me. Now its snooze time for a bit since a bit weary. Have a good week and stay warm. It's cool here but not as windy as the gorge.

We had a pretty uneventful weekend. Went out to dinner last night with my brother and sister in love, and today to Sam's Club and just puttered. I did a lot of crochet, and sewing. It was pleasant!

  8. Love that owl, but all the birds are a treasure. There is just something special about owls though. Your sunsets are beautiful. They are such a fleeting thing, one moment here, the next moment gone. It is amazing what some people can come up with just from searching for their supplies in nature. Those lamps are uniquely different. I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like that before. My weekend was fairly quiet and that was just fine with me. Have a good week.
