Finally, Snow!

Yesterday we had a proper little blizzard!  The snow was blowing sideways and it was so cold that it was those tiny dry flakes.  I stayed home from a Portland Women's Forum meeting and I'm glad I did as by the early afternoon it was pretty scary to be on the roads.  I also missed a meeting today for the Friends of Multnomah Falls.  I'm staying by the fire and Kristi and I are taking care of Dayle.  I'm crocheting and enjoying the brightness outside.. another snowstorm is moving in at about 3 pm.  I snapped all my photos from inside the house.. do you believe that I don't have a pair of snow boots?  This is the azalea outside our family room bay window!  Doesn't it look like cotton bolls?

From the kitchen towards the barn.. brrr!

See what I mean about it blowing sideways?

We're cozy inside by the pellet stove blazing away.

I tried to capture the blue light of dusk and the snow... this is the forest outside of our master bedroom.

The world is blue, inside is warm.

This morning the sun was out and everything was bright!

Looking into the forest.

I love the pattern of the snow on this tree trunk.

I stepped into my craft studio and this is the view from the French doors there.

My art nouveau lady garden sculpture and Dayle's dad's Chinese lantern.  The pond is frozen.

The snow on the deck.. you can see how deep it is by the footprints.

Kristi braved the freezing weather to take the boys out to play in the snow.. this is Hayden.

Caleb.

The boys playing with their basketball in the pasture.  Ah, youth.

It's going to be pretty interesting to see what comes next!  All I know is I hope that the electricity stays on and we'll be okay.  Travis, our son, will be home for the weekend in 4 hours and then we can all enjoy a cozy family weekend together.  Thanks for visiting.. I hope you're keeping warm where you are!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. We had sideways snow falling here as well. 2 inches so far,24 degrees. Just got back in since I ventured outside for a few photos. Now my camera is dry. It's snowing. I called Multnomah Falls lodge to make reservations for our valentine lunch next week. The restaurant is closed today. Man said there's lots of snow there. More on it's way. I'll be posting photos later today. Stay warm and safe. But I'm enjoying the snow since we don't get much. 2008 was the last time it snowed here. Hugs!《♡》°¤°¤°◇°¤°

  3. You may have been inside, but you got WONDERFUL photos, inside and out, Teresa! [I don't have boots either, come to think of it!] Elisabeth should be home from work in about four hours, then we will all be cozy at home, too. Love with hugs to you and yours, and thanks for posting! :)

  5. Great pictures Teresa! Lots of snow at our house too. I thought by coming here to Portland I would avoid snow for a week or two. Now I don't know when it will be safe to drive home. The gorge looks nasty and Spokane is supposed to have snow through next Wednesday. Bleh! I just saw Gracie's post and your comment. Great minds think alike. I just made a cup of hot chocolate and have my crocheting out while miss Piper naps. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. Wonderful photos Teresa so evocative. I so wish we could have a little snow! Am so fed up of grey skies and rain!!! However the sun shone brightly and there was blue sky today - for which I was thankful for more reasons than one, take care, keep warm hugs Anne x

  8. Your windows are a LOT cleaner than mine Teresa--LOL! I finally braved the sub-freezing temps and ventured outside with an old camera. The birds were out and very brave. I SO wanted some food for them, but had nothing. Back inside now and working on solving a family mystery (genealogy) and other things.
Wonderful photos (especially of the boys)--I was wrong; I needed snow this winter--your grandsons needed it too:)
    Blessings,
    Aimee

  17. I think it is so gorgeous, those boys must have had the time of their life creating angels and playing in the snow. I think your home sounds very cozy, snow, a warm stove, crochet, little ones giggling and lots of love to spread around.
    Hugs to you Teresa,
    Meredith

  23. You did well to stay indoors, much safer than venturing out! I absolutely love your earlier photos of the snow, they're quite haunting and dramatic! Glad the boys were enjoying themselves and hoping that the snow doesn't stop Dayle getting out, unless he can't yet? x
