Pleasant Times

Hello!  How are you?  I have a Hibiscus plant in my house and it was looking really puny and leggy last year.. but just when I'd think it was time to put it out.. it would do this.  So, we got a bigger pot and some new organic soil and repotted it.  It's been filling out ever since and right now there are 3 blooms on it with lots of buds.  Yay!

We're having a lovely run of warm and sunny days.. the boys are enjoying playing outside.  They love to ride on the deck as it's a level surface.  They go around and around and around and around.. they make me dizzy!  But it's neat to see them having fun.

The Rhododendrons are blooming one by one.  I love the dark purple markings in this one.

And the pink Rosebud Azalea bush is opening up.. have you ever seen one of these?

Lots of buds left to open.

We had a low key but nice Mother's Day here.  I got a gift and a call from my daughter in Ohio.  My youngest son told me Happy Mother's Day.  My oldest son texted me that at 10 pm.  They'd driven a long ways to buy a puppy for his wife.  Travis brought Kristi home a bouquet and I put it in water for her and placed it on the table.

Dayle spoiled me all day and then made a roast beef dinner for us.  My sister Denise had just shared a recipe for roasted veggies and he made this to go with the roast.  You cube potatoes and any other vegetable (this was asparagus), place it in a single layer on a cookie sheet, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt, and sprinkle Italian herbs over it all and roast it for 30 minutes at 400 degrees.  It was good!  Next time I think I'd use carrots and/or fresh green beans.  The asparagus got a bit overdone.

He made a lovely, tender and tasteful chuck roast.

Thanks for spoiling me, sweetheart.

I told you about a new app I got for my iPhone, it's called "Waterlogue".  It converts your photos into watercolor paintings!  I totally am amazed by it.  I did a few of my latest photos and thought I'd share them with you.  This is Beacon Rock in Washington a ways downstream from Bonneville Dam.

Yaquina Head Lighthouse near Newport, Oregon.

And here is the Mt. Hood image converted.. what amazes me about this app is how you can even see the bleeds of the watercolor.. the texture of watercolor paper.. it blows me away.

I've been so very busy of late.  Today is unscheduled which is lovely.  I am going to make zucchini bread and plant the flowers I bought at the nursery.  Dayle is working on a drywall repair in our upstairs guest room.  Kristi and he have been painting in there.  They have to finish this week as new carpet will be installed next Wednesday.  It will also be put in the upstairs hall and down the stairs.  :-)  I hope you have warm days and sunshine at your home.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. This morning we had dusty windy weather and about 3 drops of rain and then it cleared up and was super hot by the afternoon. Your flowers are all so gorgeous and big! And clean! Everything here is so dusty. Even if I poor water on them, the dust just doesn't go away. It's a wonder anything blooms at all. Nice to see the boys outside doing what boys should be doing. Running around and enjoying the weather. I told you I tried one of the free watercolor apps but they were really, really bad. That Waterlogue is pretty amazing. Have a great week. Tammy

  4. Your garden is very pretty with your spring flowers in bloom. I was looking at Rhododendron trees (shrubs?) over the weekend. Your Mother's Day dinner sounds really good. If you like brussel sprouts, they roast really well, even my 8 year old eats them. Hope your week is going well. Heather

  6. Hi Teresa. How nice to be spoiled! That roast looks yummy. It is hot and windy here. Much concern over fires. We have been swimming already. Well, I should say, the children have been swimming. Too cold for me. Just my feet.
Your blooms are lovely. I have waterlogue and love it too!!

  7. It sounds like you had a lovely Mother's Day, which was well-deserved. I hope Kristi enjoyed her day too. The boys look so cute riding around on the deck, they must be the best of friends, usually. :) Love seeing all the flowers blooming around your farm, such a beautiful and colorful place to live.
