Hot Pad Crochet

Hi there!  How is your weekend going?  I am enjoying some crochet time today.  Dayle is burning debris in the burn pile and doing some pasture mowing.  Travis is working on adding a new trailer hitch to Kristi's VW bus, Kristi is looking through a goat stall for something they stored in the barn and the boys are running around checking on everyone and watching the fire.  :-)  SO.. Pammy Sue came up with a pattern for a hot pad and asked Betsy and I to test it.  I'm pretty slow, but I finished today.  I used all KnitPicks cotton.  Click on her name above and you can get the pattern.

Pammy Sue made hers with a red flower and white background and I really like it.  But I didn't have any red yarn at hand, so I used lavender.

My first rose I messed up on and I was using a coral color yarn, so I will attach it to a hat or make it into a pin.  I had 8 petals of the 1st and 2nd row, but only ended up with 7 on the last row which laid the foundation - so I had to make sure to end up with 8 petals on my 2nd one.  :-)

This pot holder or hot pad turned out quite large!

The back is plain, but I like the pattern of the spaces.

I got this little fake but realistic bird's nest not long ago and bought 3 fake painted wood bird eggs for it.. and I had it on the picnic table on the deck.. and some critter stole them, I guess hoping to have them for dinner.  I doubt they will taste good.  But Kristi and the boys found a real bird egg that fell out of a nest, so I put that in the nest and stuck it in a copper lantern my daughter Amy gave me as a gift years ago.

I think it's a sparrow egg.

The boys just came in and brought me some flowers.. how cute is that?

Tomorrow is Father's Day - we're going to BBQ ribs and I'm going to make macaroni salad and baked beans.. Kristi is making a zucchini cake with cream cheese frosting.  Can't wait!  What are you up to this weekend?  I hope you're doing what you want and enjoying your life.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  8. Sounds like your household is very busy - it must be catching because my DD. And DSIL are doing the same here. Your version of Pammy Sue's potholder turned out lovely. It's a very pretty pattern and is on my WIM list for sure. Have a great weekend xox

  9. Your pot holder looks nice, just a different color than the one Betsy made. I did a bit of trimming in the side lawn after a bit o' rest since daughter and I were out a bit for lunch and a bit of shopping in Salem. We are gonna try a new Japanese restaurant close to us after church. Take care and have a great weekend!

  12. Love the pot holder my friend. I continue to unpack boxes every single day, all day long, the whole weekend ... And it still doesn't look like we have really made too much progress.
It's funny... We are also making some ribs, a salad and some focaccia bread.
Hope Dayle have a fantastic Father's Day tomorrow. :)

  13. Wow, great job on that potholder - love it! It is quite like the ones I have been making, but looks a lot sturdier. I have been over to Pammy Sue's blog following your link, and really like the look of the pattern, will definitely be giving it a go. I loved her blog too, so am now a "follower" - thanks again for sharing the link!

Sounds like everyone is really busy over at yours, I had to laugh when I first read your description of what Kristi was up to, I for a split second imagined her rifling through a market stall full of goats! You will have to excuse me for that though as I am laid up with bronchitis and on a lot of meds!

Have a wonderful weekend, my kids gave DH his fathers day pressie a week early as they messed up the dates - but he isn't the sort to mind thankfully. DD is going to bake a yummy cake for him later.
