Life is a Bowlful of Cherries

Hello!  How was your weekend?  Ours was good.  We celebrated Father's Day yesterday, our older son Shawn and his family joined us for a BBQ dinner and visiting.  On Saturday we just did things on the farm.  Dayle was mowing the pasture and the boys were running around enjoying the day.  I walked the dog out to see how Dayle was doing and was glad I had my iPhone in my pocket as I noticed our wild cherry trees were LOADED with red cherries!  So, I snapped a few photos of the cherries.  This one came out kind of pretty!

See Dayle back there on the tractor?  Caleb is running for the joy of it.  Oh to have that kind of energy.  :-)

Pastoral scene - burning debris, husband on tractor, boys filling wagon with mown grass to give to the chickens, our pretty barn.

We have several wild cherry trees on the property - they are bird-sown.  This is a banner year for them, though!

Father's Day dinner - Dayle BBQed boneless pork ribs on his smoker/grill, I made macaroni salad with chopped eggs, sweet pickles and celery - and baked beans.  I use canned beans and add catsup, a bit of mustard, brown sugar and Worcestershire and let it simmer for a few hours.  Everyone enjoyed the meal, all 10 of us!

Shawn's German Shepherd puppy Schatzie met Travis' shepherd cross Shelby - it was cute to see them say hello.

Kristi made a zucchini cake with cream cheese frosting.

While we all lounged about and visited before and after dinner, I worked on a crochet pillow project.  I want to make several of these for the house and trailer.  I'm doing a large granny on one side and a granny stripe for the other side.  I'm using the KnitPicks Comfy Worsted yarn that I just got.  It's 75% cotton, 25% acrylic.

The granny stripe side - I'm making it in 2 sections and will sew on buttons to keep the back closed.  That will be fun!

My Double Delight rose is doing really well and is covered with flowers.

I hope you had a good weekend and have a nice week ahead.  This week Gracie and I are going to Kahneeta to swim.. can't wait!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. My weekend was slow :-) I went climbing on Friday and then onto the saddleworth Brass Band competition, so spent Saturday and yesterday aching like crazy!!

My dad's on holiday so I didn't get to see or speak to him, but he took his card & I got a nice text :-)

It makes me smile that you have a TRACTOR to mow your lawn. My yard is about 4 strides wide by 6 across haha!

I like your crochet cushion, it's funny I made one which was a granny square on one side and stripes on the back, but this was a few years back. Good though isn't it?
