Sky Show

On Friday evening I went out for an evening walk on the farm and spied this amazing sunset.  I came back inside, grabbed my purse and camera and first got this shot, then took a drive up to Vista House.  All the way up there I was spying this amazing blazing sky!

Once at Vista House I could see the whole Western sky from 733 feet up on Crown Point!  You are seeing an island in the river with water reflecting the sky on both sides.

I turned to see Vista House lit by the sunset.. and the red sky reflecting in the windows.

I loved how this one turned out.. kind of artsy.

Later when I got home the moon was full and pretty.

Last night they'd predicted a "Super Moon".. so when dusk approached I once again headed up to Portland Women's Forum to try my hand at capturing a nice moon shot.  Vista House was glowing in the reflection of the sunset and was crowded with people who'd seen the sunset photos of the evening before and were hoping to capture another one, but this evening it was more of a sedate sunset.

And many other photographers and I waited for the moon to rise.  It was warm and humid and the mosquitoes were feasting on us.. but I stayed.. and waited.. and played Words with Friends and Scrabble on my iPhone.. no more games.. posted a photo on Facebook of the gorge.. waited.. swatted mosquitoes.. and then.. a glow in the eastern sky.  Would you believe that there was only ONE cloud in the sky.. and would you believe that it was in FRONT of the moonrise?  ARGH.. the challenges of the moon chasing blogger!  And then the clouds finally dissipated enough for me to get this photo.

I then drove home with the AC blasting in the car and quickly tucked in to our AC cooled farmhouse and found respite in my easy chair.  Then.. I spied this image right out of our kitchen window from my easy chair and had to go out and try again.  There is a branch in front of it.. but I kind of like how it turned out.

And then I sewed up my latest crocheted cotton pillow cover.  I think the next one will be granny squares.. 9 of them.. what do you think?

Both of my new pillows together.. the colors aren't that true in this shot as it was in the darkish living room.

After a long run of gorgeous sunny weather, today we're having thunder and some light rain.  It's okay by me!  I might do some jewelry making today.  What are you going to do on this lovely Summer Sunday?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  6. I love, love, love your sky shots Teresa. I was in the car driving home from the lake when I saw that gorgeous moon. Of course the traffic was heavy and no place to pull off the road and get a picture so when I got home I tried. Well...needless to say it's nothing like your gorgeous pictures. And Vista House! Oh my! I love the window shots.
Your pillows are coming right along and I the colors are great. How many more for a pillow in every room?
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. Hello Teresa your photos are incredible - there is no end to your talents!!! The crochet pillows are gorgeous. Today I have been working on a model of Olaf from the film Frozen. It is for a cake that my D.I.L. 's friend is making for her daughter. I'm not 100% happy with it but hey ho. My son visited briefly with my granddaughters- always good to see them. DH cooked dinner and then watched the final of the World Cup. i'm not anti sport but am glad it's over. It dominates TV here - and alters the schedules of programs I like to watch. I'm off to bed soon. Hugs Anne x

  14. Cool pictures of the moon and I love the one of river and the museum that looks like you took from a little higher up looking down; very pretty. Your pillows are colorful and fun and a 9 patch granny sounds like it would go perfect with the pair you recently completed. Take care and happy Monday, Heather

  16. Friday's sunset was truly amazing--the whole countryside seemed to glow shades of red that evening! Your photos turned out great, especially the ones of Vista House! Loved the moon shot with branch one also:)
    Blessings,
    Aimee
PS: I am still totally perplexed as to why I didn't take advantage of the super moon and brilliant sunset to take photos. Could it be the heat has totally sapped all my energy? :)
