At Least the Pizza was a Winner

So.. the Super Bowl.  I have never been super interested in football and was just happy to hear if our state colleges won a game.  Yay.  But I got into the spirit of things when Dayle started watching the Oregon Ducks games and then they went to the Rose Bowl.  We went to our son's house and.. watched.. them.. lose.  THEN.. our NW team - the Seattle Seahawks went to the Super Bowl.. our sons and DILs and 4 grandsons came over for a party and to watch the game.  We enjoyed family time, the kids all had fun together, I ordered 4 pizzas and Dayle picked them up.  Kristi made a zucchini cake.  The game began and we watched all the hoopla.

My sons thought it was hilarious that I was taking photos of the television.  :-)  And I must apologize for the quality of the images, but you get the idea.

Then the teams, led by their mascots, ran onto the field.. YAY!!

The halftime show was good, Katie Perry came in riding a huge mechanical "lion" operated by men beside the legs - which was actually made here in Oregon.  John Legend, Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz performed, among others.

We were rooting for the Seahawks - the first score was by the Patriots, and then the Seahawks scored 2 touchdowns and we were feeling good.. then the Patriots got another score.. and near the end were 4 points ahead... and then with a minute to go - we were 1 yard from the goal line and we thought they were going to push through and win.. and then the coach decided for them to pass it and it got intercepted and we... lost... in the last 22 seconds.  GAH!!

Our 4 grandsons thought it was great to have all the pizza you could eat.  :-)  Mike, who is a teenager, reported he ate almost 10 slices.  LOL!

The boys were so excited that their cousins and aunt and uncle were coming over.  They're getting pretty big.. I wonder how long they'll be able to sit on grandpa's lap?

This is my favorite pizza, Italian sausage, black olive and fresh mushrooms.  What is your favorite?

Kristi's cake turned out delicious!

I knitted on my dishcloth through the game and finished it off.

I want to thank Betsy in Spokane WA and Dorothy in Australia - who tested my newborn hat pattern.  They both said it was easy to follow and was a quick project, like about an hour!  This first one is by Betsy, isn't it cute?

And this cute hat was made by Dorothy and is modeled by her new little grandson!  :-)  Thanks, ladies!  If you want a bigger hat, just continue making the double crochet crown bigger before you begin the continuous shell body.

Last but not least is a photo my daughter Amy took for me of my two granddaughter's real live guinea pigs with the newborn baby guinea pigs I crocheted for them.  Isn't this cute?

Well.. time for dinner.. I'm having leftover pizza!  :-)  I hope you have a great week ahead!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. The game was such a good game...until the last 30 seconds! :-) So sad that they lost, but I keep saying that it's just a game. Your pizza looks great. We usually get the combo, supreme or the works, depending on where we're getting it but you get the idea. We live everything except anchovies! I have a feeling those boys will never be too big for Grandpa's lap. They all three look pretty happy. Thank you for the sweet birthday gift. I love the heart and the stitch marker. You are a sweetie Teresa. Have a wonderful evening Teresa.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  2. Looks like y'all had a fun Super Bowl. We always order pepperoni, tomato, and mushroom pizza. I love tomatoes and mushrooms on a pizza. I really don't care if it has meat, but hubby must have meat or he doesn't feel like he's had a meal. The hats turned out cute using your pattern!

  3. My girlfriend ( I call her Pencil Girl on my blog) helped make that lion over in St. Helen's at Michael Curry Design. I almost watched the game just to see something she helped make but thought better of it. (lol)

  6. Sounds like you and your family had a really good time (well except for the whole Seahawks losing thing). Pizza--yum!
    Blessings, Aimee

  7. My favourite pizza is ham and pineapple, although I don't eat them very much at all these days. What a fun time getting all the family together, creating some wonderful memories.

  8. A shame about the Superbowl loss, but as you say, it seems the pizza made up for the disappointment. I like black olives on mine as well, maybe with some artichoke hearts. Never eaten ten slices though, that may be a new world record. Although I could probably manage nine... Gorgeous baby, excellent hat model, he's a real cutie. I suspect those big boys will be sitting on grandpa's lap for quite some time to come. My eleven year old still likes to sit on top of us sometimes, it doesn't really bother him that we stop breathing after a few minutes. Lovely to see those piggies with their originals. CJ xx

  9. Awww those guinea pigs are so cute. I wonder what they think of your crochet ones ?? Pics of the game turned out good. I've been guilty of doing the same one time on new years eve during the Sydney midnight fireworks. Fun huh. Footy and pizza - what a combination. It was nice seeing Oliver on your blog - he didn't mind modelling at all. I found a knitted hat I'd made yonks ago and since he was in the mood, tried that on him too. He looked super cute and the fit was perfect so now I'm going to work out a crochet pattern the same size. xox

  10. I'm thinking the players should haven't listened to their guts instead of the coach. Oh well! You win some, you lose some. That's the way the game goes. So many people get so wrapped up in it and honestly, in the end, it just really doesn't matter. What matters is that you had quality family time despite the loss. :) and got a dishcloth made. That Betsy can make just about anything and it turns out beautifully. Glad to hear the pattern worked out for both of them. Have a terrific Tuesday. Tammy

  12. I wasn't really cheering for either team but I do like the Super Bowl. It's the only game we make a point of watching every year and I always try to make fun food for it. This year we had Buffalo wings, Velveeta cheese dip and these pizza balls made with biscuit dough and pepperoni and cheese inside. I loved the halftime show! I'm a huge fan of Katy Perry, as are my kids. They love her. It's nice to see your grandsons together, Mike is growing up, as are Hayden and Caleb! They look much bigger lately.

  13. I have never been a football fan either even though my husband watched it now and then. Maybe if I understood the game I would enjoy it more. My job has always been to watch the commercials. I was invited to 2 different places, but because of the snow storm I stayed home. There were actually times I thought the DISH was gonna go out on me. I knew if it did my sil would be in fits because they have the same provider at their house. I had my own little party of one plus my 2 doggies. It really didn't matter to me who won, but then when the NE Patriots were behind I decided since I live on the east side of the Mississippi I should probably root for them. I found the commercials rather troubling, serious issues. I am not a Katie Perry fan either so there ya go....it was probably better I stayed at home, I sound like such a party pooper. Now on the other hand, your family gathering sounded great. I sure love pizza, my very favorite food. It was so nice that your family was able to be together. Those grandsons are getting big. Are they still living with you? or are they the ones whose parents built the new home? I really need to go back to your previous posts. Sorry your team lost, it was a close game right up to the last few seconds.
    Susanne :)

  15. Sorry your team didn't win Teresa but it all sounded a lot of fun. I don't think I have a favourite pizza like lots of different ones :-) though used to love a chilli beef one that they used to do but then seemed to stop. Super photos of your grandsons and Dayle of course :-) Cute one of the guinea pigs as well.I have knitted my first hat to send to Taci. Not sure how many I'll make because of cost of postage to US - have to see. Hugs Anne x

  16. You do make me smile, Teresa! Yummy pizza.......I like mushrooms and olives on mine, and sometimes chicken :) The baby hats are so sweet, and the baby model is adorable! Love the picture of the guinea pigs both real and crochet, such a cute idea for a photo.
    Happy week to you all.

  19. I like it when the teams scores are close, but we were sad the Seahawks didn't win. Some in our household were wearing Seahawks colors and one son in law even dyed his hair in their team colors :) The mechanical lion was really cool and it was fun to hear on the news the next day that it was made in Scapoose! We had yummy toasted turkey sandwiches, chips and dips and veggies and sweets, but your pizza looked worthy of eating ten pieces :) Mighty fine stitching you showed us, too, Teresa, and fun to see your guinea pig babies in their new home. xx

  20. It sure sounds like a fun day with the whole family. I think cheese and mushroom is my fav, and those hats are easy to make, I mad one and the pattern was great. By the way I wanted Seattle to win, I have a crush on the coach.

  21. Squeeeeel! Look at those guinea pigs!!! I love them :-) I quite like how massive the superbowl is, I like to imagine most of the States watching together! My friends who moved out to New York did :-)

  22. looks like you had a wonderful superbowl party. we lived north of Boston for two years so I was supporting the patriots, although didn't stay up to watch it - would never have got to bed...... I love all the pomp and circumstance that goes with it, the whole game is a party!
