One of my blog friends, Helen Philipps, is an amazing crafter and an author. She's published several books and so when her new one came out I knew I'd order it from Amazon. The book arrived yesterday and I look forward to looking at each photo and pattern and hope to make some new things to give as gifts. An example of her work is the heart ornament next to the book which was made by Helen herself and sent to me as a gift! It hangs in honor on the knob of my grandfather clock where I can enjoy seeing it every day.
I also wanted to show you that I figured out the pattern I wanted to use for the interesting yarn I got off of Etsy - it's the Hitchhiker pattern. I bought it off of Ravelry. I ordered the circular needles off of Amazon to make the scarf and they just arrived. They are Addi Turbo.. apparently I will knit really fast with these. LOL! I gave my sister Denise a skein of this and the pattern so we'll be working on this at the same time. She has started hers so I got to see it yesterday when we volunteered at the falls and I'm so excited how it looks!
The volunteers get to park in a special nook at the falls next to where the USFS truck parks - and it's next to a cliff where mosses and fern grow. I love how the moss and ferns also grow up the maple tree there!
Also from where I park there you can see the waterfall through the trees.. what a neat place where I live!
It's getting dark so early now! When we locked the doors to the Visitors Center it was dark! Eek! They've begun to string some lights on the lodge.. I sure hope they put up more!
I am going to start my shawl today.. it has some fancy footwork in it so it will take some figuring out. My sister showed me some of the interesting stitches on her beginning shawl. I also have to finish my wedding blanket.. but it's close. In other words.. today I'm staying by the fire and doing handwork. Sounds good to me! I hope you have a cozy thing to do today! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
