Poking Around the Farmyard

Hello!  How's the weather where you are?  We have warm sunshine and it's 54 deg. F already at 11:40 am.  I am sure it will get warmer.  I'd seen a Camellia in bloom by the henhouse - the one we finally planted last summer - and so I grabbed my camera to get a photo.  It was raining just 40 minutes ago when I was out and the flower was waterlogged, but still pretty.  I've wondered for 30 years why the previous owners of our place, built in 1906, had not planted a Camellia.  So, finally I've rectified that with 2 of them planted.  About time, eh?

A friend of mine who lives in Beaverton, OR showed a photo on Facebook of her patch of Snow Drops in bloom.. so I looked at our patches and found just one bloom in tight bud.  Soon we'll have more!

The Snow Drop I found was in our front entry walkway under the big Nandina full of red berries.

Walking around back I checked the pond - this is how it looks in Winter.

The big Koi are happily swimming about.  I'm sure they prefer the better weather as they don't eat during the winter.  Which amazes me as they grow a lot during this time.

Our older son and his wife attended a "destination" wedding in Phuket, Thailand this past week.  It's been fun to see his Facebook postings of where they stayed and what all they did and saw.  Their room was amazing with their own private infinity pool in front with a view of the ocean from the pool and deck.  They arrive home tomorrow so we're going over to see them and the boys tomorrow.  Her mother flew up from California to stay with the boys, that was nice.  That's our weekend plans.. do you have something fun set up?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. There are a lot of spring bulbs coming up all over the garden which is so early this year. We have had a couple of hard frosts but so far no ill effects on the bulbs, time will tell. Beautiful Camellia. No real plans for this weekend.

  3. I'm a big fan of Camellias as well, they always look so exotic yet they're out at such an inhospitable time of year. Thailand sounds like a brilliant adventure, I hope they've had a good time. Enjoy your weekend Teresa. CJ xx

  5. 51° here right now! And we still have snow and ice on the road in front of our house. Seems pretty strange to me, but if it keeps up like this the snow will be gone in no time. Love your pretty flowers and your fish. It looks like spring is on its way to the farm. I've always wanted to go to Thailand and actually looked up hotels in the same area that your son staying at. It's not somewhere Dennis really wants to go though, so we probably won't venture that direction. After this week I'm thinking I never want to make plans to go anywhere again! Have a wonderful weekend my friend.
    Blessings, Betsy

  9. I enjoyed the 'walk' around your garden today Teresa. How about that room in Phuket? Amazing eh? I read about the terrible storms on your east coast - I hope they don't come your way although its probably very unlikely because of the distance. Anyway, stay safe and have a great weekend. xox

  10. It's pretty around your place :) I'm headed to a small group leader's meeting tomorrow morning and then to my art group in the afternoon. We are going to work on making vision boards which should be fun! I look forward to hearing about your weekend gathering. xx

  13. Your flowers and plants look gorgeous! Everything here is gone due to the cold temps. But, it could be a whole lot worse. We didn't get in all of that storm that went thru. I'm painting this weekend. Am getting a little tired of that paintbrush. But, I am making progress.

    Have a great weekend,

    Judy

  15. Your pond and waterfall look amazing--as always! I am missing our camellia blossoms as we had to do some severe cutting on it due to roof issues. Glad it will recover and have blooms again, but I truly miss its loveliness on these gray, rainy days.
    Blessings,
    Aimee
