Five on Friday - Booties, Cap and River Gorge

Hello!  Number 1 - I finished the second bootie for the gifts I'm making for a new baby to the family arriving next month.  If you recall, I had edged the first bootie with white cotton.. but it didn't look right next to the pink hat with lavender flower, so I took out the white and did lavender shell edging on it and it looked much better.  Don't you think they look more like a set now?  I tied ribbons of silk on the booties in pink and purple.  :-)

It's a grey day so the color isn't right on these as I had to turn on the lights which cast yellow over things, but it's okay.

There is definitely an art to tying a ribbon just so.  I think this came out nice.

I do so love to have the skills to crochet my own gifts for family and friends.  I developed the pattern for both the hat and the booties.  I wrote up the hat pattern and posted it on my last blog post.  The booties must be too difficult as I wrote up the pattern and several have volunteered to make them and not one single person has responded that they got one made.  I guess it was a blooper of a pattern.  LOL!

#2 - Kristi got a juicer and made her first orange juice this morning... oh my goodness.. how tasty is fresh squeezed orange juice!!  Yum!

#3 - She also picked a nice bouquet of the lemon yellow lilies for the table.

#4 - Gracie and I decided we needed a mini vacay and headed to Bonneville Hot Springs for lunch and swimming.  The day was gloriously sunny after a spate of cloudy days which was grand.  I tried their halibut fish and chips and it was VERY good.  It's so calming to have this garden with several fountains as your view while dining.  Our swim was a bit rough as there were several families with children on this day, but the water was divine.  It seems to be healing some rough spots on my skin with the mineral water.

#5 - We drove through the East Wind Drive-In and got some refreshments and drove to my favorite spot for enjoying the river.  There were several racing sailboats on the beach, we missed the racing.

I noticed the Queen of the West sternwheeler across the river, it was just pulling out from it's dock in Stevenson, WA.  It's a BIG boat.

I then drove down to the boat ramp and in time to see a pair of fishermen just launching off for a day of fishing.  The Bridge of the Gods is in the background.

I've been meaning to snap a photo of the seas of wild sweet peas that are covering the hillsides in the gorge.  So pretty.

I then showed Gracie my special little spot under the bridge where I snap a photo of the gorge at the end of my visits to Cascade Locks.  She loved it.

I'm joining in with Amy's "Five on Friday" - thanks for hosting this as it's a nice way to meet new bloggers.  I'm off to swim again with my friend Gracie.  Have a great weekend!!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  9. I loved all five of your things Teresa. Your hat and booties make a wonderful set any new Mom would love to have. I would be happy to test your pattern if you would like to send it to me. I make the hat often for the hospital. I don't have to tell you how much I want to go adventuring with Gracie. I love you both and know we would have great fun. I asked Gracie if there was room on her land for Dennis and I to build a cabin! How about you? Ha! Ha! Have a wonderful weekend my friend.
    Blessings always,
    Betsy
