Happy Halloween!

BooOOOoooOOOoooOOOoooOOOooo

We hang this guy up each year for Halloween, a paper lantern pumpkin.  He brightens the dark evenings in the dining room very well.  He's starting to show his age with a tear in his forehead but I've decided that it just adds to his scary demeanor.  :-)

I haven't gotten all my Halloween decorations out this year for some reason, but have a nice little group of things on the dining room table.

When I arrived home from swimming on Friday I saw that the Pin Oak tree had turned to it's peak red color.  Good thing I snapped a few photos then because on Saturday the rain and wind blew most of these down!  :-)

This tree delivers an amazing amount of leaf-age to the ground.. but it sure does look gorgeous for that brief moment in time of perfection.  :-)

I've done more work on the Corner-to-Corner (C2C) project and I'm kind of thinking it might make a nice scarf/shawl instead of a blanket.. what do you think?

The more I work with this yarn the more I love it.  It's colors stripe out so beautifully and this colorway is called Polo, which doesn't make much sense to me.  If you missed the name of it, it's Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable.  We had a girl's lunch yesterday to celebrate my younger sister Denise's birthday and I gave her 2 skeins of this yarn in the Stained Glass color-way.  It's beautiful, all in jewel tones.  She's going to make a scarf using my shell stitch pattern I came up with.

Denise, her husband, daughter and her daughter's significant other went to Disneyland a few weeks ago.  She brought back a pair of Buzz Lightyear toys that have spinning lights when you squeeze the legs together.. lol!  Can you believe how fast these two are growing up?  If you're new to my blog - our son and his family live with us.  These are our two grandsons, Hayden and Caleb.

Here is a fun photo.. our feral cat we're feeding, we've named him Simba.. and new to the menagerie is a baby possum.  Apparently Simba is okay with the little possum partaking of his food.  :-)  So, now Kristi has two critters to feed.

If you celebrate Halloween, I hope you have a good one!  I'm off to swim this afternoon.  What are your plans today?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Your blanket is looking beautiful. I've reached the halfway point and have begun decreasing on a baby size blanket. It's really a fun pattern. Your yarn is so pretty. Fun presents for the boys, that was really thoughtful of Denise. Have a wonderful day Teresa!

  2. Happy Halloween to you and yours!
Oh my, looks like Simba has competition.
Your Pin Oak tree is beautiful. Our Sliver Leaf Maple was so brilliant it lit up the whole yard. I just love Fall, it's the best time of the year.
Pretty scarf/shawl/blanket, the yarn has a nice sheen to it, like silk.
Take care and have a great Halloween.

  3. Happy Halloween, hope you have a wonderful evening celebrating. The stunning colour of the tree is a feast for the eyes, shame it doesn't last long. Love the blanket, I agree it really would make a beautiful shawl.

  7. What a neat photo of Simba and friend! The boys are growing fast...as are all our grands, and the Buzz Lightyears look like fun to play with. I hope I can learn how to do the stitch you designed. It is so beautiful with the yarn you are using and will make great blankets/scarves. You would have wanted to hang out the car window today taking photos of the gorgeous trees...none prettier than your Pin Oak, but you would have enjoyed seeing all the colors...lots of shades of gold, too. Today I saw grown ups dressed up for Halloween, but no kids. I guess the kids were all in school :). Hope you had fun swimming. Just as I got to the motel it started to pour! I didn't go swimming, but I did get wet :) XX

  9. I went to work then went to a party afterwards for a bit. A new co-worker invited us and we had a good time even though I didn't stay long. Megan went as well, since Ann lives across from the library. Also inside another house that was built 1869. It is so pretty and sure it will look lovely at Christmas time. Hayden and Caleb are looking good and growing up. We were with our kids and grandkids on Sat. and that was fun! Shawl colors are lovely as well as your shawl. Now I'm going to finish dishes! Happy week my friend!

  13. Simba is a very patient fella. Jingles would freak or attack. She doesn't like my little neighbors at all and hisses at them if they even look at her. Don't know why she's such an anti-social cat. Hope you and the family had a nice Halloween. I've had some internet issues that kept me from getting to my blog or any others using blogspot. Very frustrating. Finally got it resolved today. November blessings!

  14. Teresa Your Mutlnomah Falls volunteering is inspiring to me. I love the shelter but Im thinking of new things since the move. Im really hoping the Gala this weekend is successful. Like all non profits we need those funds to keep coming infrom regular donors.
Halloween was fun. We lit the pumpkins had NO trick or treators but enjoyed friends photos of their kids and grands! Tonight for Day of the Dead, Im putting my dogs favorite treats out and praying he visits me ! (apples and peanut butter) Zach is in Mexico as you know and his birthday is Day of the Dead. HE is sending us awesome images. Also since his birthday is tomorrow, wouldnt it be out of the park if the CUBS played on his birthday???????? We think SO!!!
