New Blue Chicken

Hello friends!  How is your week going?  I hope well.  There is a new hen in my glass "Hen-on-Nest" collection.  Kristi has been working hard all week helping her mother go through her household before moving.  She's been bringing home a few things - the latest item was a glass chicken dish of her grandmother's.  She knew I had a few more... so now it's a collection! :-)  The new one is in the middle.  The new one is a "Cornflower Blue" from the Indiana Glass Company.

This one is neat as she's larger than the other two.  I just did some research and they began making these in the 1930s.

Isn't she pretty?

She also brought home this cute Indian Papoose doll wrapped in furs and beaded clothes.  This isn't the best photo.  The baby is yawning.. cute.

I am sure pleased with how big the red Chrysanthemum is.. so gorgeous.

Simba resting on our rattan chair and feather pillow.. such a life.  :-)

I am heading to swim at the hot springs today with Gracie.. I keep hoping that the pool will be more empty.. but it appears that other people like to use it too.  Dang.  :-)  I lost my Blog List last week due to a Blogger glitch.. so I'm rebuilding it.  I hope you have a happy week!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  6. From what I've read, other bloggers are having the same problem, and it is supposed to be fixed at some point. Seems Google or blogspot is making changes yet again that is causing glitches. So far mine seems to be okay. I'm glad Simba is feeling at home. He deserves to have a safe place and a soft spot. Your collection is lovely. I used to have a couple of those hen dishes but guess I gave them away years ago.

  7. I just emailed you about the blogger glitch. I did come across another blog that detailed a link to look at past versions of your blog so you could copy & paste the blog roll back in. I kept hoping google would fix the glitch. And then compounding my tech frustration is the recent iphone upgrade,,,grumble, grumble.
Your chrysanthemum is stunning. Mine never grow that big.

  10. The aqua hen on a nest dish is just like the one my mom had all my years of growing up.. and forever really. My kids loved it too. She would always put candy in it and that's the first place they headed when we went to visit grandma! What memories that brought back to me! My sister is looking for a blue one too (the aqua color) as her boys also remember that candy dish and she wants to get one for each of them! No luck so far though I did see one at an antique shop that was a rush color. Your mums are gorgeous... mine got HUGE this year and have never had any so big.. and they just started out as those little potted plants you get from the grocery store! Enjoy your swim!
