Hibernation

Hello my friends.  How do you spend the week between Christmas and New Years?  I hibernate.  I think I'm part bear.  :-)  I've been crocheting on a baby blanket for my nephew's baby, actually he has 3 little girls and I think they will share it.  I made them all hats with this same yarn.  I just love the colors and how they keep changing.. you never get bored wondering what color is next and how the stripes will work out.

I also found a book on one of the best seller lists and devoured it.. "The Girl on the Cliff" by Lucinda Riley.  I am going to get her other book today that I saw "The Orchid House".  She's an Irish writer who was an actress prior to becoming an author.

I have no excitement to share.. I'm dealing with bronchitis from the cold I have had for a week.  That's why I avoid colds like the plague as they always go into my chest.  My poor lungs.  I do think we're taking the boys to see the new Star Wars movie this afternoon, though.  The first time I've been out of the house in a week... LOL!

The yarn is Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable.

This is what winter looks like out the window.. :-)

I hope you have a wonderful 2017!  I'm going to swim and try to eat more healthily.  Do you have a resolution for next year?  Mine is always the same.  LOL!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. The color and stitch pattern of the blanket are beautiful! I hope you enjoyed seeing the movie. It is one I want to see, too. The guys here tried to burn a huge pile of the branches they cleaned up from the storm a few weeks ago. The wood is too wet and green to burn, and there are still more branches to gather...winter! Your reading sounds interesting. I spent hours looking up info on the net and in the books I have at home, but am ready to read a happily ever after story. I still have a gunky feeling throat in the morning, but am ok. I hope the movie outing helps chase your bronchitis away! Your resolutions sound like mine :) Happy New Year to You and Yours 🤗

  3. Your blanket looks so pretty! I enjoy variegated yarn as well. It is so cold here...in the evenings. Phil and I walked late afternoon in the sun. Sky is clear and I can see the evening star to the south. Not sure which it is. My hopes for next year are to knit more and work on a fabric quilt for my oldest granddaughter and continue to walk and exercise. We're planning on going to see Rogue One soon. Phil has gift cards to use. Maybe next weekend! Happy New Year and hope you feel better soon! /--**--\

  4. I'm sorry you're still feeling yucky Teresa. Hopefully getting out will help you feel a little better. Would you believe I've never seen a Star Wars movie? Just never been very I terestd I guess. I prefer comedies or romance movies. :-). I think I would rather have your winter than ours. They're saying another 7-8 inches of snow this weekend.
No big resolutions here....I just want to feel better in general.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  6. The variegated baby blanket is lovely. I need to start using that kind of yarn because it can be used for either a boy or girl and would make my gift giving easier. I hope you are feeling better soon. Thank you for your blog, it's one of the first I check each day. Happy New Year from California.

  7. Oh Teresa. Wishing you easy breathing soon. I plan to hunker down this afternoon and knit away. I love your crochet blanket. What a great gift. I want to keep the weight off in 2017. Its no fun, but I'm learning a bite of this is as good as a plateful...kind of. So much changed in 2016 without us knowing it would. Im still kind of in shock and awe. Cheers to you blog lady pal. Happy New Year!

  8. Ugh. My son had bronchitis at the tail end of last winter and he still suffers with coughing and breathing problems. He never had bronchitis in his life. Hope you are feeling much better very soon. I have great intentions for the new year. Getting all of the crochet wip's I've got going is definitely something I need to work on. Your baby blanket is lovely!

  13. I gave up on making new year's resolutions years ago . . . mine were always the same, too. Although; they started out with gusto, they never made in through the entire year, LOL. Now it's just, get up each morning and decide that it is going to be a great day and that I am going to enjoy it to the fullest measure . . . one day at a time :) I see that all your snow has melted, we are having the coldest winter that we have had in years. I don't see your snow going away for quite some time. Happy New Year and do get to feeling better :)

  16. Hello dear Teresa. Sorry you are unwell. It's been a tiring and at times difficult, sad and frustrating week. We enjoyed a bit of a respite with my brother and his wife, plus mum on New Years Eve. Hope you have a happy and healthy 3017. Hugs Anne x

  20. Happy New Year to you and your family! I hope you feel better soon, Teresa. I also get bad chest colds and so do my kids. I've had pneumonia in the past and I think that's one reason, my lungs will always be a bit compromised because of it. Your blanket is really nice, I love the colors in that yarn. It's nice of you make things for babies and kids, I think they will appreciate it when they're older. I hope you enjoyed the movie with the boys. :)

  21. I just found you and your already my first go-to site, when I'm free of household "chores" I love the blanket from your Dec.30 post. I'm also a Red Heart fan but what stitch did you use? Looks like the shell, but my eyes are not what they used to be--can you respond and let me know?
You certainly are not the only senior very worried about what will happen with this new gang in Washington DC. !
