A Return to the Falls

Multnomah Falls opened back up to the public 2 weeks ago and yesterday was my first day back volunteering in the visitors center.  There is a fence to keep people from going up closer to the falls and the bridge due to concerns of loose rocks falling.  This is the closest I could get to snap a photo.  It's so cold here that the water is starting to freeze.

Brrrrr

The normally clean walkways are filled with brown leaves.  Kind of sad.. but at least we're back and people can visit again.

The lodge nearly burned but due to the hard work of a large crew of dedicated firemen and women.  This place is well loved by a lot of people.

I managed to crochet a holiday light ornament while I talked to visitors from many places.  I even managed to sign up a new member of the Friends of Multnomah Falls!  If you want to join and support the group, you can visit here and click on "membership form".  :-)

One man even brought this article to share with us.

Lastly, I saw this image on Facebook and had to share it with you, it's a lighthouse in Maine.  So pretty!

I'm off to swim today, what are you up to?

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. Wow, that lighthouse photo is absolutely stunning. Lovely to see the falls open again after the devastating fire. I'm so glad the beautiful lodge wasn't damaged. I hope the area will regenerate well. No doubt it will take time, but maybe in the spring things will really start to recover. Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my blog today, I really appreciate your kind words. CJ xx

  8. I am so glad the Falls and Lodge are back open and they were spared from the fire. Such a mess out by you and in California. Yet there is no global warming, right?

  9. So happy to hear the falls are open again. That wintry photo of the Lodge is amazing as last summer when we were there we couldn't even find a parking place and the whole area was crawling with people.

  14. I spent the week before Thanksgiving visiting my niece in Cresswell, just south of Eugene. The falls were one of my must sees while I was there and I was terribly disappointed when I found out they were closed. It is so wonderful that they have reopened even if it is on a limited basis. I did get to spend a day on the coast and see the sea lion cave, Thor's well and had a lovely lunch in Yachts. I'll be visiting again next summer and plan on see the falls then.
