Crochet, Tablecloth & MLK Day

How was your weekend?  We had a nice easygoing one.  I crocheted!  I'm behind in the CAL, but that is not going to stop me.  I am slow, but meticulous.  :-)  What did you do?

With 7 of us living here in the old farmhouse we had to add another leaf to the table.  Which made many of my tablecloths too short and the ones for when the table was fully extended too long.  SO.. you know what that means, I had to get a new tablecloth, right?  Of course.  Kristi measured the table for me and 106 inches was the size we needed.

The white background and flowers are the perfect change from the reds and greens of December. It's cotton and I like the batik look of the blue print background and there are sprays of flowers here and there.

And it has a gorgeous border.  Do you use tablecloths or are you a bare table and placemats kind of person?

More of my low carb cooking.  I'm very happy using my Le Creuset grill pan for steaks.  A bit of garlic powder, pepper, NuNu's Cajun seasoning and some Worcestershire sauce.  Voila!

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day - He was a great and brave and amazing man.  My message today is - Share Love and Make Our World a Better Place.  :-)

Spread Love - Have a Wonderful Week!  I'm attending a
Women's March on Saturday.  More about that later.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. I like to have a table cloth but I also have some runners that I use with placemats, depends on the occasion. Loving your crochet work, the colours are beautiful.

  2. It was such a busy weekend with flying home on Saturday and church and playing catch up yesterday. Today has been much of the same with lots of computer work preparing things for our accountant to do the taxes. I spent about a hour catching up with the ironing and I need to bake communion bread this afternoon before I can finally play with my yarn.
I’m a tablecloth girl. Even at the trailer I keep a tablecloth on the table and everyone out there makes fun of me. Your new one is beautiful, did you find it online or in a store? The blanket is coming along beautifully. Who cares if you’re a bit behind. If you’re loving the process that’s what’s important. Have a lovely afternoon Teresa.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. The tablecloth is really pretty. I go back and forth between just place mats with a bare table and tablecloths. I think this is the first time I've commented on your blog but I've been reading for awhile. I really enjoy it. I started Lucy's CAL too but I messed up somewhere. It's not lining up right so I'm going to shelve it for now and come back to it later.

  4. Happy Martin Luther King Day! (if that is the standard greeting?) He certainly was an amazing person in world history who made his mark.
I love your new table cloth. I'm a placemat person for the indoor table, but a tablecloth person for the outdoor dining. No idea why!
Good luck with the CAL. I'm not making one but admiring everyone elses!
    Hugs and love xox

  6. You saw what I did on the weekend with Miss April lol I only use a tablecloth on special occasions so mostly a bare table type of girl, but only the 2 of us most days. I do love that table cloth though and have a thing about gingham, old fashioned me xoxo

  8. What an absolutely lovely tablecloth! We used to be bare-table types until I fell in love with some hand-printed placemats from India. So now we have placemats.

What did I do over the weekend ... cough mostly. There's a virus in the house. I didn't want to be selfish so I shared it with Mr. M and now he's coughing too. Good times. :)

  9. That's a very pretty tablecloth. If I had a nice wooden table, I would only use them as needed, but since I have a very bland white table that doesn't match anything, I use tablecloths.

  10. We are firmly in the bare table camp. Our dining table is a solid beech butchers block type, which I love and which is not easily damaged. I'll use a table clothes when all the children have flown the nest... I do really like your new tablecloths, it is cheerful and pretty. I love the flower boarder, just like a spring meadow. Your blanket is coming along nicely, I imagine it is very relaxing to make, simple but not boring. Have a lovely week. x

  12. The new tablecloth is very pretty, and as you know, I like to use tablecloths, too. Even when our kids were little we used tablecloths. My mom and dad gave us the woven cotton ones in blue and white and red and white that we truly wore out! We had to drive to Santa Rosa yesterday for Carolyn to have a blood test, but on the way home we stopped at an Asian food place and I got steamed vegetables and beef that were yummy. xx

  13. I adore your tablecloth. I love all the floral sprays against that background. Like you, I utilize tablecloths on both the kitchen table and the dining room table. When we switched out the old formica kitchen table (kids!) for a better quality one that was bigger, I had to get new tablecloths too so they would fit.
For Kathy B above? I don't iron either. I wash my tablecloths and then dry half-way. Then I spread it on the table where it dries flat for that table. Who irons anymore?

  14. I love your new tablecloth. If you live near a Home Goods they are a good place to find fairly inexpensive table cloths and you can find them to suite the changing seasons too.

  16. Oh yes! Tablecloths for us. I've made most of ours and have some vintage ones from my Mom and others. I don't mind ironing...find it to be meditative.

  17. I am a bare table kind of gal, no place mats as I think they just collect crumbs. Love your new table look. Have a great weekend at that march Teresa.
