I was most interested in hearing about your geraniums and what you do with them during winter. I must try that with mine. Actually I think I might have to throw mine out as it doesn't look as if it will survive. Our winter mornings often get below zero temperatures and although the hanging basket is under the eaves of the house, I don't think it gets much protection. I was so sorry to hear about Dayle's brother - my condolences to you all. Our old neighbor when I was a teen had red geraniums on both sides of her walkway. In the fall she'd dig them up and shake the dirt off and pile them up on a shelf, in the spring she'd plant them again and off they'd go. Does Dayle leave the geraniums in the planters or dig them up first? I've heard of putting them in paper bags too. I would love to overwinter our geraniums this year so any hints are appreciated. I'm going to start making more hats for the hospital and will be making more of your pattern. They loved them last time I made a delivery. Your hat is adorable. I don't have any good name suggestions but I'm sure someone else will. Lucky baby girl getting such a special hat as soon as she's born. Your geraniums do look wonderful. I used to winter mine too, when I lived in a house with a good place to do so, but I don't have one here. We have no basement (slab foundation) and no windows in the garage so I don't think there's anywhere to do it. Great idea, though, and the plants will be big right from the beginning of the season and only get bigger.
