Treasure Hunt in the Farmyard

We've had lovely weather lately.  Today I went grocery shopping while hubby painted the last side of the barn.  Some background... he started painting the barn in the Autumn 2 1/2 years ago and got 3 sides done before the weather turned bad.  In the Spring he was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery, the good news is it hadn't spread and he didn't have to have chemo or radiation.  He's been building up his strength for the last 2 years and getting the farm grounds back in shape.  This week he decided to paint that 4th wall, the one you can't see from the road.  When I returned from town I went out to check on him and of course I brought my camera.
Finding the flowers in bloom is like a scavenger hunt.. I am still loving this fuchsia - they remind me of ballerinas!
My 2nd pot of the wildflower Shooting Star is blooming.  It's so hard to capture the nice med-dark purple of the flowers, but you can see how pretty they are.
Hubby wintered over several pots of geranium and they're looking quite wonderful.  As you can see I have a real fondness for the color magenta.
At the rose garden I picked up this unusual variety of geranium with beautiful flower shapes.
I'm blanking on the name of this flower.. Alstroemeria (thanks, Clicky Needles!)
Thanks to my blog friends I now know the flower above is a Rose Campion.  I love the dusty fuzzy leaves and the brilliant little flowers.
A close up of the flower.
Some yellow pansies have sprouted up in the pot of Dianthus.. fun, huh?
My 4th of July rose just keeps showing off and looking great!!
Finally a strawberry has ripened!  Plop into my mouth it went! MMM!
My Scentamental is so pretty and fragrant.
All those photos were taken as I worked my way down to see how hubby was doing..  here he is watching the dog dig holes.. LOL.. a bit of red paint is here and there all over him.
He's painting with a 4 inch brush.. this is 3 gallons of paint so far and 3 days.  One more to go and it will be done!  He feels he gets a much better paint job with a brush due to the groove patterns in the siding.
As we both walk back up towards the house I get another shot of my Mock Orange, it's a wonderful plant and it's on the side of the shed.
And how adorable are these volunteer pansies?
This is my Japanese Painted Fern.. don't look at the darn weeds.
Then hubby leaned way over the pond to try to get a better photo of the Shooting Star.  I just love them.

I hope you're not sick of flowers. :-)  Thanks for visiting and I hope your week is great.
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Hi Teresa

No we never get sick of flowers. Yep it's an alstroemeria.
