I have "needed" a nice hat for years. Years ago I put one together myself with a straw hat and some fake flowers in red, white and blue for different occasions for Daughters of the American Revolution events. But I have two events (one tomorrow) that called for something a little more sophisticated. SO, yesterday (I know, talk about waiting until the last moment) hubby and I went to a hat shop called "CrowningLori" on 122nd in East Portland. None of the completed hats (and she has at least 100) were "it". I wanted a felt hat, not a woven one and I wanted it to be like something you might find someone wearing in Downton Abbey.. :-) I think she hit the nail on the head!! I love it, what do you think? She sells hats on Etsy too.. click here And her website is here
Here is the hat in it's box, the pheasant feathers have been dyed black.
Tomorrow we'll be up early to be at Portland Women's Forum State Scenic Viewpoint at 10 am for a rededication of the monument that I worked on to get re-installed back in the park. I will tell you more about it when I post some photos that we take tomorrow. Do you have a special hat? Share your story with me! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
