Hello! When my granddaughter Paige saw the hats I'd made for my grandsons, she wanted one. I started one using some pink yarn and then got an email from my daughter saying that she wanted one in Fall colors. So, I took a photo of the Red Heart Unforgettable acrylic yarn in the color-way - Sunrise and she loved it. Jenna wants one too but we're still discussing the colors she wants.
I'd asked for testers of the pattern I created for this but no one has stepped forward. But if anyone ever wants to try the pattern in the future, just let me know.
This is a short post as I have to pack my swim bag and also get off to my Daughters of the American Revolution meeting. I hope you have a great week ahead of you!! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Crochet Hat with Ribbed Roll Brim
by Teresa Kasner, copyright 10/4/17
This is for boys and girls 8 years to 15 – for a larger head you can add rows before you do the rolled brim, you can also make the rolled brim wider by adding to it.
I used a fairly thick worsted and a size H hook.
Round 1: (Start with magic loop – or) Ch 1, 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with a sl st to first sc (through both top loops). (10)
Round 2: Ch 2, dc in same st, 2 dc in next st and each around (including joining st). Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (20)
Round 3: Ch 2, 2dc in next st, *dc in next, 2dc in next* around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (30)
Round 4: Ch 2, dc in next st, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next* around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (40)
Round 5: Ch 2, dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next* around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (50)
Round 6: Ch 2, dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 4 sts, 2dc in next* around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (60)
Rounds 7-12 (try on hat at this point): Ch 2, dc in first st and each st around. Join with sl st to top of beg ch 2. (60)
FOR RIBBED ROLL BRIM –
Chain 13, sc in 2nd sc from hook, sc down chain towards hat, after 12th sc, sc in edge of hat through both loops of two stitches, then sc in BACK LOOP of sc stitches and work sc to the end (12 sc), ch 1, turn, sc down towards hat in back loop and on and on until you make it all around the hat, then cut the yarn long enough to sew the first and last of the roll brim together.
Love those colours. Perfect for this time of year :). B x

DeleteA Beautiful Hat.Love the colours.x
ReplyDeleteLove the hat and the wonderful colours a little large for my Grandchildren yet but a few adjustments it may work.
ReplyDeleteI love this hat and would be more than happy to test knit it for you. I will search out some yarn today and make a start. I should warn you that I won't be as quick as you though because I'm fairly inexperienced and I will have to convert it to English crochet terms but I will give it a good go!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can figure it out and it works for you. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
DeleteThat yarn definitely represents the colors of fall. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite colours! By the time you have made a hat for all your grandchildren, you won't need a pattern tester :-)
ReplyDeleteI've already memorized it! LOL!
DeleteNice hat and color. Well I'm not a crochrter or I'd test out your pattern too. Sorry! Hope you had a nice swim with Gracie! Hugs!

ReplyDeleteAwesome hat again Teresa and yes I tested but have been not on blogs for a while. It went really well, but I used wrong hook for the wool I used so ended up frogging it. But pattern great ☺☺
