Stormy Weather

Well, we've been busy since I "saw" you last!  After my post about our tree being taken down, I headed off to Multnomah Falls to volunteer.  Gosh, it was busy for a Thursday.  We helped many people plan fun hikes and visits to the dam and fish hatchery and trips up to Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood, among many other questions to answer.  I pulled out in the viewpoint on my way home and snapped this shot of Rooster Rock and Vista House on Crown Point.

The mighty Columbia River on a brisk Autumn day.

Before we went to the falls we met for lunch at "Celebrate Me Home" - a shop with a cafe inside - we had a nice sandwich and salad.  Then we had time to duck into "The General Store" and I was thrilled with a massive collection of Halloween decorations!  Here is the old soda fountain they have in there.

More of the decor items.

What would you buy if you were here?  I'd love to have that tablecloth!

I'm kind of eyeing that life size skull candleholder! :-)

Yesterday was a goof off day.. I crocheted and enjoyed time with the boys.  Today hubby and I headed off for a late lunch in Troutdale at a Sushi restaurant and we tried several things to share.  This is shrimp tempura with avocado and asparagus.  It was YUM!

We also shared house fried rice and yakisoba noodles.  (We brought lots home for lunch tomorrow!)

I like sushi as long as it's cooked. :-)

We ran some errands and then on the way home we drove up to see how the Vista House in Columbia River Gorge looked today.  They have been predicting a stormy weekend and it has been.  Rain and wind.. but warmish.. weird.

I love going up there to "blow the cobwebs out of my head".

We're home now and it is dusk, Dayle is making roasted potatoes, grilled ham steaks, sausage gravy and buttered corn for all of us for dinner.  And I'm visiting with YOU! :-)  I hope you're having a fun weekend.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. As always your photos are magnificent Teresa. I love the first two of the river. Do you take your camera always or do you use your iPhone? Have you got your iPhone 5 yet? I'm almost on the verge of getting one - talking myself into it LOL. Both my daughters have a 5 and they like them. Did you know you can buy a clip-on zoom lens for the 5 ? You can get in to 12-15mm - very close eh? I've ordered one online and will be interested to see how it performs. If its good, that will confirm that I NEED a new 5S. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. xox

  6. The gorge is so beautiful. Will be headed up that way soon. Do u work there every Saturday? It's been windy and wet and on the warm side here in Willamette valley. Part of our town has been without power for hours. Ours has glitched a few times. I did a post about our weather last night. Right now it's windy. Am awake cuz of chest congestion.

  7. Another beautiful day. First I would buy the sign that says, "You say I am a witch like it is a bad thing." I'd say that sums me up. The views of the river are gorgeous. I am sure you and Dayle are enjoying the special time you have alone together, having a house full is an adjustment. But I know you are loving that too.
    Hugs to you,
    Meredith

  8. Hi There Teresa, All those decorations are amazing. I like the box sign, "You say I'm a witch, like it's a bad thing", it strikes me as so funny! That sushi looks so yummy and the rice too. I'm with you as long as it's cooked or veggies I will love it! Dinner sounds good too. Of course the views are so breathtaking and really one can't get enough of them. Enjoy your Sunday, xoRobin

  9. That's a lot of Halloween stuff!! I quite like the letters that spell BOO - I've a thing for words :-) Your noodles look scrummy but I can't say I'm a sushi fan myself, all this talk of food's making me hungry. It's 4.20pm here and we've not had lunch :o

  12. I say girl, you sure have a knack for photography, you should have been a photographer. I agree with Kris, your pics never tire me.....now for what I would buy if I was shopping at the general store, that bee hive thingy in the first photo looks quite charming. It would be pretty in a flower garden on a stump among the blooms. I do so hate that summer is gone, but I won't grumble too loudly, for I won't miss that grass mowing business. Our weather has taken a bit of a dive temperature wise, but last evening we enjoyed a wood fire in the fire pit. It was great, but woe is me I not only forgot my supper meds, but also my camera. I agree about the sushi, raw fish turns me totally off, and ever since I read years ago the the Japanese have a high rate of tape worm from eating raw fish, it totally turned me off. I do love the fried rice, I could eat that till it was coming out my ears, lol. Hope all is well and that you have a good week. God Bless you and your family.

  14. No raw fish for me either, Teresa :) Your photos of the gorge are especially beautiful to me today as I am looking out at the steady rain. At least so far we have not had the wind that was forecasted. I was fighting with Blogger yesterday, and almost called to beg you to let me come over to see if you could rescue me. Although I had made no changes to my blog for ages the print and picture size of my blog have seemed smaller. Strange! I finally have succeeded in increasing the print size but even though I publish them at the extra large size the photos still publish smaller than they appear on the Blogger Dashboard site. Do you have any ideas? Hope you are having a happy cozy weekend!
    Blessings to you and yours,
    Gracie xx
