Summer Days and Death Threats

The weather here has been.. dare I say.. perfect.  Kristi says that it's supposed to lightly rain tomorrow.  But for now.. it's perfect.  We're still in painting mode so things are askew.. but it's coming along.

Right now Kristi is painting trim.. a LOT of trim.. we have a plethora of the stuff.  :-)

The plants are all in odd places but they don't seem to mind.

The hanging baskets are probably at optimum.. and dress up the paint buckets and ladders.. lol.

The other one that hangs near the pond.

The koi are making short public appearances.

One of the geraniums that Dayle wintered over in the basement.

The "volunteer" bell flower is happy.

Kristi got this pretty pink flower and I can't remember what it is.. readers?

Now.. something happened yesterday that has me shaken but steadfast in my beliefs.  I have this magnet on the back of my car.  I've had at least one woman mention it and we agreed on the state of America now.  But yesterday I had the opposite reaction.  I was waiting in the car for Dayle to make a bank deposit and a man walked by and glared at me with an ugly face and was saying "Someone needs to kill you".  He kept going, got into his beat-up old red truck and pulled out and stopped in front of me and began shouting at me calling me a fascist and other awful things.  My only reaction was to lay on my car horn right at him and not to stop until he left.  Which I did.  Other people have told me they wouldn't dare to have this bumper sticker on their care due to concerns of people like this.  I understand now why.  But dang it.. I feel strongly about resisting what is going on in Washington DC and will continue to keep this on my car.  What gets me is when I see Trump stickers on people's cars.. it would never occur to me to threaten their life and call them names.  What is with people?

So.. in other news.. the pool is open and I'm heading there soon.  Yay!!  What are you up to this fine middle day of the week?  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Well done to Kristi....she is working so hard..how good this will all look. Your flowers are looking beautiful too. I'm so sad for you and your scary experience Teresa..I'm afraid that politics, like religion, often brings out the best and worst in people as it is so very personal. xxx

  2. Oh my goodness, that is so shocking. As you quite rightly say, you wouldn't have reacted had it been the other way round. I'm glad to hear you're ok after that. Your hanging baskets look wonderful by the way. Sending you my best wishes from over the pond. Fiona x

  3. Oh Teresa, that's horrible, I'm so sorry. Absolutely unnecessary to behave like he did, whatever his views. Shame on him. And well done you for standing up for what you believe in. I'm sending you a cyber hug. CJ xx

  4. I am so sorry you have been assaulted in this manner. I hope you can are able to go to sleep tonight with the firm belief and knowledge that such horrid individuals are rare. Kristi must be such an energetic person, she is working her socks off! xx

  5. As I've said before, I need to borrow Kristi for awhile. You are very blessed to have such a hard working daughter-in-love. The flowers are looking lovely. Dennis and I are hoping to take a trip down the coast in October. Maybe we'll be able to see you then! We want to go to the Redwood again and then work our way northwards. The Nebraska trip went so well, we're optimistic. :-) I'm sorry about your experience. As Jane said, politics seem to bring out the worst in people. I, for one, am tired of it all. Lots of love sent your way.
    Blessings always,
    Betsy

  6. I am so sorry you were threatened and I wish a police officer had been there to confront that man. We need to have room in life to express opposing views so that we can better work toward loving consensus in my opinion.
I hope you had a great swim today and I hope to swim at the hotel tonight. Praying for safety and blessings for you and yours ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ’ž

  7. Well done you. I would have been hooting my horn too. Just turned off my news after watching more cringe worthy Trump stories :(. Looks like Kristie is a star, it's going to look so good. I think your plant is a type of pelargonium. B x

  8. The pink flower is verbena. All your flowers look amazing! Love that volunteer bellflower. We have some of those growing under our bedroom window - no idea where they came from.
I will never cease to be amazed and horrified at the actions caused by what L.M. Montgomery calls "the virulent microbe of party politics". It's a germ and a sickness, all right. There are infected attitudes on both sides of the fence, but also plenty of decent, well-meaning folks. I'm glad you didn't let the bad specimen get you down.

  9. Sorry to hear about your frightening encounter Teresa. I admire you for standing up for what you believe in.
Your unknown flower is a Verbena.

  10. Right now I'm off my feet on the couch after being at work all day. Busy summer days. One more to go this week. Need to make dinner soon. Hope your painting gets done soon. The flowers are lovely. Sorry about the crazy man with death threat. Disagreeing is one thing but the threat is deplorable. Good for you for honking and will pray it never happens again my friend! Hugs! :-} Prayers!

  11. Mrs. Micawber got it - Verbena.
    Hummingbirds love this sugary flower.
I do find it interesting that X supporters are more violent. I have noticed the same here. uhmm..having been threatened at work, I stay low-key. Sorry, but it is not possible to talk about politics at all right now. Sorry state of affairs. You could also record the lunatic on your phone as you're dialing for police back-up.

  12. We're living through some bad times, I'm afraid. A lot of hateful and angry people out there; especially now that things are not going so well for them. Sorry to hear about your encounter at the bank; that was a scary situation. Take care.
Your garden is so pretty, I really enjoy seeing your flowers, especially.

  13. How scary .... I hope you don't meet up with that fellow again.

  14. How I wish I will have a daughter in law like Kristi! I'm excited to see your home after the beautiful paint job is completed. Wow, that was a scary thing you went through with that idiot guy. He had no right to harass you in such a manner. Unfortunately, people judge us without knowing us. A couple of years ago in Turkey, a shopkeeper told me to leave his store with my "dirty American money". People all over the world today have no boundaries as to proper behavior. It's a sad state of affairs. Hopefully, you can forget about it and continue on with your mission. Pat xx

  16. Teresa, when 45 was elected my daughter's inner city Baltimore middle school kids were devastated and afraid. She posted on FB, and included part of St. Francis's Prayer for Peace. I used part of her FB post, expanded it some, and had a bumper sticker made.

I was concerned when I first put it on my car - more concerned about someone keying my car than a death threat. I loathe 45 with every fiber of my being, so I understand the absolute necessity of resisting everything about him. Tough times...

  17. It is frightening what is going on all over these days. As others have said, politics seems to bring out the worst in people. Hoping he does not cross your path again. Meanwhile, gorgeous flowers all around and lucky you to have a DIL who works so hard around your home.

  18. Teresa, I m so so sorry that happened to you. How frightening. BIg hugs to you. Most people are good, but the lousy ones sure make you wonder about people in general. I just got a letter from our old Pastor and he was encouraging healthy dialogue amongst all of us. Kind dialogue, listening dialogue. Wouldnt that be refreshing?

  19. Yikes! That's aweful!! You should have gotton a picture of him with your phone along with his licence plate. It's against the law to threaten people like that. Must have been an escapee from that basket of deplorables Hillary was talking about. Please be careful my friend... I just hate what's happening in this country right now. On a lighter note, your flower baskets are just beautiful!!

  22. Theresa, So sorry you had to endure such a terrible occurrence. But it only goes to show us what kind of people the big orange one in D.C. is carrying with him. I think you are very brave and please be careful. Don't know what will happen, but right now, it doesn't look good for him or his family and cronies. Came across your beautiful blog today for the very first time and will continue to visit daily and smile at all your gorgeous flowers. Peace and love.

  23. I'm so sorry you had to be subjected to such hatefulness. The thought that he felt he had the right to behave like that is absolutely insane, people are crazy. I hope you take comfort in knowing many others share your beliefs and continue to resist!

  24. Okay I am just seeing this and I am so sorry that you were harassed and threatened by this man. I know there are people like this on both sides of politics but I think they veer a little bit more to the right. I can't have a sticker on my care, nor did I have a Hilary magnet like I had with Obama because I would get cut off in traffic and jeered at. People would drive very close to my car so I had to swerve, it was awful. This president has created such a wolrd of hate. I am so sorry Teresa.

  25. I am so sorry that you were threatened for your beliefs, we are living in a very sorry world. On a more positive note you are blessed with an amazing daughter in law, she certainly is a hard worker. The flowers are a real delight and are glorious.

  26. It isn't always easy to stand up and be counted, I admire you for doing so. No one should have had that level of aggression directed at them. I have only in the last year realised that voting alone isn't enough and a more public stance is sometimes needed even if I would rather not be noticed.

  27. Now I feel that I really must get myself a RESIST bumper sticker!
