Monkey Business

I've been working on a special project for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, Paige - a sock monkey.  I had made one for her older sister Jenna (6) a few years ago and I wanted her little sister to have one too.  I've been working on it over the week and showing progress photos, but this monkey is done!  The last thing I made is the little flared skirt.  So, I took the monkey and our kid's childhood chair out on the deck in the RAIN for a photo session.

The girls and our daughter Amy are coming for a visit tomorrow and I'll give Paige her new friend.  When I showed it to her last Thursday she hugged it and said.. "I want to SLEEP with it!".  How cute is that?  Jenna sleeps with hers every night.  I sewed the flannel heart on the monkey's chest and I tell the girls that the heart means that I love them and to remember that each time they look at it.  I have a feeling I'd better make Jenna a skirt too out of the yarn I made her hat and scarf out of. :-)

Say, my Give-Away of a pair of sterling silver earrings ends tomorrow, the girls are going to do the drawing.. have you left a comment on that post?  The one below the one below this one.  Hurry and sign in so you will be in the drawing.  You can see the earrings in my Etsy shop, link to the right on my page.

I have made some wonderful blogger friends since I began blogging 8 months or so ago... Suz, Kate, Meredith, Heather, Millie, Julie, Alicia, Saskia, Robin, Sue, Ursula, Tif, Kelly, Helen, Denise, Dorothy, Anne, Rachael, Cath, Jane, Erin, Lucy, Emma, Elizabeth, Shanti, Melissa, Nicole, Erica and many more.  Thanks ladies for giving me the opportunity to see all over the world from your eyes and viewpoints - you have expanded my horizons beyond my little corner of the world and I really appreciate you.  ((hugs)) Teresa

  1. That Monkey is just gorgeous! I`d quite like one for myself! I can`t speak for anyone else but from my own point of view, it`s been an absolute delight to `visit` your little corner of the world, Teresa and an absolute pleasure to `know` you.

  4. Oh W*O*W that is the most wonderful sock monkey and so lovely to have a "heart" from grandma. That is really special and your grandaughter will so love cuddling her new friend. Did you make up the pattern? I am also so glad to have met you Teresa and I really enjoy sharing our blogging friendship across these 1,000s of miles. It's been a wonderful spring day again here in the UK, sending some sunshine your way :0)

I've about had it with non-working fingers. :(

  6. Adorable sock monkey! And very sweet that you put the heart there to remind your little granddaughter how you love her. I think the face of your sock monkey is very friendly and happy! It's great to read your blog and to enjoy seeing glimpses of your way of life and the lovely place you live. Have a great week, Teresa.

  7. Rachael, you'll have to find your own tester bed, it makes you feel like royalty.. :-)

Jane, I've cuddled the monkey and it works good! The neat this is when you buy these socks the pattern is included in the package. You should get some! We have lots in common with our jewelry, don't we? I wish we would get some sunshine from you!

Ursula, glad you like my monk. My thumb got better pretty quick after it healed, but it took a long time for the scar tissue to stop being "bumpy". Now I don't notice it at all. Hugs.. T

  15. Hi Teresa .. I love your sock monkey - so very very cute. Don't know much about sock monkeys - why are they called that ? Surely they're not made of socks ? If there's a pattern, I'd love to see it. I always enjoy reading your blog and am so glad we are friends in blogland.

  19. This guy is just too cute. Will be looking for a pair of these socks too. Your grand-daughter just doesn't know how special this will be for her. Can't wait to see what you will be up to next. I'm off to look at your past postings for a baby blanket I spotted here a while ago. I think I have the pattern in hand and can't wait to give it a try.
