Cotton Candy Mountain Sweet Spot

Remember a while back when I was chasing down a place to take a good photo of Mount Hood and never quite found it?  One of my new blog friend/readers , Gracie from One Saylor's Log, told me that there was a viewpoint near Sandy, Oregon where you could get a good shot.  So, today hubby and I went to town for a late lunch and on the way home I saw the mountain in all it's majesty and hubby told me he knew where that viewpoint was.  So, off we went in search of it.. and we arrived right when the mountain was turning lovely colors!
These were all taken with my iPhone 4S - I can only imagine how good the photos would have been with a fancy schmancy camera.. (I've been researching a good camera in which I could change lenses - I've never had one that you could do that!)   The image below shows the Sandy River, too.
I love the mountain when it's got fresh white snow on it.
These plants were in all the planters around the viewpoint - called SnowBerry.  Neat little white berries that are good food for birds in the winter.
I want to thank you all who left such caring comments after my post about losing our 3 chickens.  We will be moving the hen house and setting up a secure run for them.  Hubby has been looking on craigslist for some new hens, once we get things set up and secure.  We enjoyed having the chickens and the fresh eggs, and have invested too much in the chicken house and accoutrements to give up now.  I'll be sure and keep you in the loop when we get things fixed back up and get some new hens.

How is your 2012 going for you so far?  Ours has started out kind of dicey.. hope it goes uphill from here!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. BEAUTIFUL landscape. And I totally agree with the hens. I had hens years ago. I feel that I "need" feathery girl friends again. ;-) Sooner thatn my husband thinks.

  2. Your pictures of the mountain are spectacular and look as if they've been taken from the air. If it wasn't for those pretty little flowers I might have thought you and hubby had gone on a romantic hot air balloon ride !! Hope things improve for you and that you can enjoy the company and eggs from some new chicky chooks soon.

  7. I know you have had a bit of a rough start, but the breathtaking pictures must fill you with such a sense of beauty. I am trying to take the New Year slowly as I never caught my breath in 2011. Hugs to you and Dayle,

  8. Absolutely gorgeous. So peaceful. I'm much more of a mountain girl than a beach girl. Give me a mountain vacation any time! I lived in Boise, Idaho for the winter back in the early 1990s...heavenly.

  9. Stunning pictures Teresa. It's horrible losing chickens, the foxes have them with us.

  11. You seriously don't need a new camera. Great shots with your phone....bbbbuuuutt, I do adore my Canon Rebel, which I can change lens on. First, went Macro, then Telephoto and just now wide angle. Already have the next on my list.

  14. Hello Teresa what beautiful scenery. Glad to hear that you are not giving up on the chickens. We are taking the New Year slowly. Had a hectic time in run up to Christmas. I want to try and ensure that doesn't happen again.
Have been helping out with Ella as Sarah (my DIL) is still not feeling able to drive - DS is doing his share as well. Anne x

  15. Bravo! I'm so glad you enjoyed the view from the lookout! ...I was reared on Flying Feather chicken farm in MA and a research poultry farm in MO. which exposed me to large scale care of chickens, but your recent sad experience with preditors is one I have not personally had. I'm glad you are not giving up caring for more hens, and your determination to try again encourages me to try to care for some, too.

I think you could enter those pictures in a contest and win. They are just so breathtakingly beautiful! AND I love the snowberries, looks like popcorn to me.....which I love.
I hope the year gets better for you guys because you all deserve the best!
