Vintage Glass Love

My Jadeite cups and saucers arrived today! Wow, fast!  They are Fire King in the "Alice" floral pattern.  I will tell you more about the frilly orange piece below...
These cups are very light and delicate, it's amazing how well they've lasted through the years.
Hubby prepared us a nice lunch of crispy smoky bacon with a fried egg and some cottage cheese with peaches and a few Maraschino cherries.  Yum!
Tonight we'll just have some fresh fruit or vegetables.  :-)
This is my maternal grandmother's special Carnival glass bowl.  She would make potato salad and heap in into this bowl, and cut a hard boiled egg into shapes and make a flower on top. :-)  I am very lucky to have this bowl as my Aunt Eva had it and there were many nieces that would have liked to have it, and my cousin Glenda had it and sent it to me.  Isn't that sweet?  Glenda told me that Aunt Eva had promised that bowl to a lot of people. :-)
Carnival glass has this wonderful iridescent sheen on the outside.
Here is the colorful back.
With the light shining through.
Here is a vintage Depression glass Vaseline glass measuring cup I have.  If you put it under a black light they glow amazingly in a neon green.
Do you have any family pieces that you treasure?  I hope you're having a good weekend.  We're having a very easy day and then have been invited to a roast turkey dinner at our youngest son's house tomorrow.  Our DIL Kristi called Dayle this morning for some turkey roasting advice.  Fun!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. Yeah. Someone else who is trying to eat better too. I think I have that same carnival glass dish somewhere around here. Back to work, it looks like FB just threw me out. Scott and I are hoping its just their server, but it's weird. So, if I"m not about WWF I promise I'll be back when I have it figured out. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  7. I remember as a little girl my mom and grandmother would drag me to depression glass shows. They each collected differant sets. I have actually been thinking of collecting 1 cup and saucer of various colors. But have not gotten any pieces yet. The cups and saucers look great and tell hubby that the lunch looked yummy too :)

  8. Mmmmm your lunch looks SO yummy. I love seeing the pics of your various 'treasures' and the carnival glass is beautiful. I think I had a bowl similar to that many years ago and not knowing its worth back then, probably got rid of it in a clean-up. Stupid eh? My current 'mission' is to try to find an old milk jug to use as a flower vase. I've seen a couple on eBay that are white with blue stripes but my decor is green so hopefully I might find something more suitable somewhere.

  10. Such pretty glass, Teresa! I have inherited all sorts of dishes, but none like yours. I love the way the light reflects on your carnival glass piece.
I got a cobalt blue lemon juicer at an antique shop back in NY and I love to collect other cobalt blue pieces as well and display them where light can enliven them! <3

  18. I absolutely love that first picture in your last post. That place looks so cozy with the smoke coming out of the chimney and the falls in the background. That is a beautiful big 'ol house! I know it's the center, but it looks like a house!

Enjoyed seeing your carnival glass bowl and the story with it. I have several pieces of the blue carnival glass and one piece of a very light green. The light green one is really pretty. I'll have to get a picture and post it so you can see it. I can't remember if it's Fenton carnival glass or not. I'll have to check.

Your pictures are really getting good! I always love to look through them. You live in such a beautiful area of America. Dayle's picture is good too. Tell him the lunch he made for y'all made my mouth water! YUM!

  19. Where do you keep all your pieces??? I have a lot of my mother's pieces (she passed away 5 years ago) and I have a china cabinet but it's crowded. I'd love to collect more but don't have the room for it.

  21. Hello Teresa that bowl is just gorgeous. Your lunch looked very yummy as well. I do have one or two older bits and pieces that have belonged to other members of the family. I shall have to get them out and take some photos. Anne x
