Dear hubby surprised me with a pretty bouquet when we went shopping at Costco the other day. I wanted share the eye candy pink of this flower with you.
Our DIL Kristi asked me to crochet a slouchie hat for her and she found the pattern and bought the yarn. I hope it turns out like she wants and that it fits her right. We'll see.
The bouquet has snapdragons, too...
Carnations are so pretty with their serrated edges.
This house plant of mine lived in a darker spot for years and just hung in there - but I moved it over near this window and have watered it more and it's just thriving!
I'm just taking the day slow. Hubby did some burning.. I glanced out the window and saw flames 20 feet high.. whoa! Now it's raining.. I think I'll crochet. Our bigger grandsons are coming to spend the night so our son and DIL can go out with a friend for his birthday. We'll probably take them out to dinner. Tomorrow my best friend from 7th grade and her husband are meeting us somewhere for lunch. They've moved to the Portland area down from Seattle, so we'll be seeing more of them!
Are you all set for the 4th of July? We'll be watching our local parade and enjoying the day with family. Enjoy the weekend! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Hi Teresa! Your flowers and plants are soooo
ReplyDeletebeeeeautiful!!
[I really like your patriotic tablecloth, too.]
The hat you are making for your DIL looks like an interesting pattern and is a type I have never tried to make before. I bet she will love and treasure it.
You are right about how to make a half double crochet...I am just curious how it got its name because it does not seem like it is half of a double crochet if you know what I mean :)
The afghan I am going to try to make is D-324 from More Granny Squares Coats & Clark Book No.286
We are having some folks over on the 4th for a hot dog roast around our campfire circle [we are still burning downed limbs from the Jan. storms!]
Hope you are having fun with your grandsons, and that you have a good visit with your high school friend, too!
Hugs from me to you, Teresa :)

That is great that you are still in touch with someone from the 7th grade.. It wonderful you stayed friends all these years... I have lost all contact with friends except one from High school. My hubby starts fires like that all the time.. I telling you...one day he just might set the barn on fire..I always keep my fingers crossed when he lights the match..LOL! Pictures are beautiful....Have a wonderful sleep over with the young one...fun times!! Shari
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Teresa!! I have a friend I have known since birth,
ReplyDeletebut of course our earliest memories started just prior to kindergarten
around 4 and is wonderful to have such a long term friend like you ☺☺
Nice pics! Hope you had fun with the boys! Love the slouchy hat colors!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous bouquet, and I love the slouchie hat you're making for Kristi. Have a great lunch with your friends tomorrow! :-) x
ReplyDeleteLovely hat pattern, it seems like you are settling right back into being home!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet hubby you have Teresa. Those flowers are beautiful and the colour so vibrant. You've already made good progress on the slouchy hat for your DIL - I notice you're using Sugar n Cream - I've used that lots for washcloths but never made anything wearable with it. Does it wash well? The apricot, fawn and cream look pretty together. Look forward to seeing it when finished. Have a happy 4th July. xoxox
ReplyDeleteReally pretty pics. My sister has just landed in Chicago for a month and I've given her a list of some yarns I'd like her to bring back. I can't read the label on yours properly - is it 'Sugar and Spice' - anyhoo, that hat is going to be beautiful. Have a good Sunday and a lovely time with your friends tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty post. When your hubby does a job, he sure don't do it by halves! I am having terrible troubles posting comments on peoples blogs, I hope it works here :) x
ReplyDeleteHello Teresa!...You have such a beautiful bouquet of flowers there from your lovely hubby!...Costco do have lovely flowers, don't they? ..Your crochet slouchy hat looks lovely...I'm sure Kristi will be very happy!

ReplyDeleteA beautiful bouquet Teresa. Have used that yarn - but made a washcloth with it. I bet the hat will be lovely.
ReplyDeleteWhat age is seventh grade? I met my very best friend when we were seven and in first year of junior school ( junior school 7-11 ) nowadays that year is known as year 3.
I think we both have really sweet husbands. Today mine said we must decide where we want to go for our trip abroad ( should have gone last year for our 40th Wedding Anniversary ) I said well I've never been to America. DH said well do you want to go there and see your friend in Oregon - that's you Teresa!!! ( I'm always telling him your news) So sweet of him. Don't worry not going to descend on you :-) Love Anne x
Hi Anne, oh you really should come to Oregon, you would love it. We could dine together at Multnomah Falls Lodge and I would be happy to show you around. 7th grade is when you are about 12 years old. We go to school from 1st to 12th grade - starting at 6 years of age or so. I do hope you do come to America! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
DeleteThe flowers are gorgeous...can't wait to see how the hat turns out.
