First Egg & Yarn Arrives!

Success!  Buffy the hen produced her very first egg yesterday!!  Here it is, fresh from the nest!  Isn't it pretty?  Our last Buff Orpington hen laid a pinkish brown egg and this looks kind of rosy brown, doesn't it?  Woohoo!
Here is the egg with my Majolica hen.  :-)
We went shopping at Costco yesterday and in the flower display they had these sunflowers, so I popped them into the cart.  When I got them home I wondered what vase to use as the flowers are pretty big and heavy - I found just the thing in my Hoosier kitchen queen cabinet - a gallon sized antique pickle jar.  I am enjoying these flowers immensely!
Aren't they perfect for Autumn?
My fall wreath on the back door.  Everyone uses the back entrance.. only strangers use the front door.  :-)
This is my "view" from my easy chair in the family room.  I enjoy it.  What is YOUR view from your easy chair?
zooooom...
AND... right after our egg came.. so did the mail lady.. with my yarn so I can finish this shawl!  I have 2 and a half rows of the lacy edging to go.  Can't wait to wear this as the colors are perfect for fall, don't you think?

These colors speak to me.

I have enjoyed this yarn so much that I got 6 skeins of another colorway, I think it's called "Sea".
It's "microfiber" and it's very soft.
Hello... I'm a sunflower.. :-D
Today I went swimming.  Tomorrow I'm having a friend over for lunch.  Gracie, my blog friend from One Saylor's Log.  I'm preparing a shrimp salad for us.  I'm sure I'll have some photos and stories for you.  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Always wonderful once the girls start laying, I had 2 chickens

eggs. I commented last time on your wonderful wreath.

LOVE sunflowers--they always make me happy with their beautiful sunny colors:)I also love your new yarn--sea; the colors make me feel peaceful.
Just found out part of the historic Columbia River Highway is closed so not sure yet what I will do as I really wanted to do that this autumn:( Oh well--I will have to find an alternative route.
Have fun with Gracie tomorrow--shrimp salad sounds great!
    Blessings,

    1. Oops! Forgot to answer your question. From my favorite place to sit in the family room I can see a pine tree, salal, a butterfly house, a bird bath without water and today -- birds. Actually I can see more than that but I didn't want this comment too long--LOL:)

  16. Oh Teresa...what a fabulous post! Love, love, LOVE the egg! Yaaaaay! So exciting! And your sunflowers...they're my fave...I have them in silk fashion all over my house year round. They're so bright and cheery! And I really like the vase you chose! It's perfect! That shawl! It's magnificent! What a gorgeous piece of work! You'll get so much enjoyment from that! We had temps in the 40s when we got up this morning. Highs in the upper 70s today...with no humidity. LOVE IT! I'm going out to lunch with a friend and we're taking our cameras, hunting for photo opportunities on some of the back roads. A perfect day from this perspective! LOL Have a good one. Enjoy your time with your friend (and your shrimp salad). Hugs, Annette
