Hello and thanks for visiting! I've had a run of busy days and today was lovely as there were no appointments or errands at all on the schedule. I've been crocheting on my shawl, although I found a few mistakes and had to rip back.. then only to find when I got back to where I was, there was another mistake beyond that.. rip rip frog frog. I'm back to where I was now. LOL!
I've made two meals of crab salad for hubby and I. He picked the 2 whole crabs while I prepared the salad. Lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, black olives, sliced Gouda cheese and Thousand Island dressing. I also baked some sourdough bread to go with it. It was bake and serve and just delicious. I am glad we used all the crab, one doesn't want to waste such epicurean delights! We just had one for lunch.
My 2 dozen roses are bringing me joy each day.. this is my view from our family room and the flowers just make it seem so pretty. The blooms are opening more each day and still look gorgeous.
I swam with Gracie yesterday and then scooted home as our older son Shawn and his family came for a visit. We served lasagna, salad and sourdough bread. Then we all retired to the family room for a nice visit. Shawn and his wife are looking into having a house built and they were excited to show us the plans and tell us all about it.
I hope this closeup brightens your day.
The sun is shining here, it's windy and cold outside.. 45 degrees F. I think I'll put a few more rows on my shawl! What are you up to? Thanks for stopping by. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
It sounds like you've had a lovely day, Teresa. Your salad looks so good! That's a salad and a half, I think. Yum! I'm so happy for your son and his family, that is very exciting news. I hope you have a nice evening. :)
ReplyDeleteHello Teresa, Your shawl is coming along nicely, sorry you had to frog a few times, always makes me upset! Yes, your roses definitely bring me joy and a smile, boy they are stunning. Your crab salad looked so yummy and a real treat. Love all the things you added to the salad. Exciting news on building a new house for your son!
ReplyDeleteWell, take care and hope the sun lasts for you, xoRobin
Beautiful rose and wonderful family times you had. Love the look of the crab salad, making me hungry.
ReplyDeleteYay to building home plans ☺
Hmmm. What am I up too? Well this afternoon I've had a couple of hours to crochet on your doily. I'm having such fun seeing it grow into a beautiful lacy thing and knowing how much you want it makes it even more fun! I LOVE, LOVE making things for people who I know will appreciate them. Your salad looks delicious and so healthy. And we're having lasagna for dinner tonight. Tomorrow I'm putting a stew into the crockpot early in the morning as I'm taking a friend to the hospital for a day of testing. Your shawl is looking gorgeous. That red yarn is amazing! Do you have Pammy Sue's email. She want's information about the tea but when I tried to comment , (a second time,) on her blog it doesn't seem to go through. Have a great evening!
ReplyDeleteBlessings aways my friend. Tell Dayle hello for me. Lunch next month??
Betsy
Like you I am enjoying a day off :) I am trying to get caught up on visiting blog buddies and hope to get some knitting done...as well as my laundry. Be thinking of a date you are free to get together to paint with me! House building sounds very exciting! Thanks for sharing more views of your gorgeous roses. It is windy even over here, too! Hope to see you tomorrow for swimming. I am taking my friend who had back surgery out to lunch and plan to swim at 2, but will text you if running late. xx
ReplyDeleteI have spent the last couple of days teaching and keeping up with life stuff! Exciting! lol The shawl sounds like such delicate work.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to finally get a day off to rest up for the next round of events. Sorry you had to tear out some of your hard work on the shawl, but that is the nature of the beast at times, the good with the bad. It always makes me sad to have to rip out all the hours of work. The crab salad looks delish. Building a new home is fun. I remember when we were building ours, I got to pick out just about everything. It is still very cold here. I am thinking this winter arctic blast will never end and I just can't seem to warm up. My iPad is still giving me fits and tomorrow they come to replace my wifi and hope I can get it all straightened out. I also go for taxes to be done. It is always a relief when that is taken care of. keep warm.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
Wow that is such a beautiful shawl Teresa! I love the yarn and the color is just gorgeous. You make such yummy meals I get hungry every time I see your posts... So nice to have family dinners together it just make it taste better when the table is filled with family. How exciting for your son and his family. It's a very fun experience. Stressful sometimes, but worth it every step. Hope you have a wonderful rest of the week my dear friend :)
ReplyDeleteThat salad looks yummy and I love the shawl! Isn't it nice to have a quiet day every now and then to crochet? I'll trade you my -15 degree weather for your 45 degree weather. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to see some sun today, wasn't it? Now if we can just add a few (about 20-30) degrees to all the sun things would be perfect:) Your crab salad truly loves wonderful -- I like the idea of adding some gouda cheese to it. Yum! Sorry about your shawl...I know it will be beautiful when you finish it though!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Aimee
Your shawl is looking great Teresa and family times are so special....it's 7.30am here and I'm off to work! X
ReplyDeleteThose roses are gorgeous. How exciting, home building plans. It would be awesome to build your home just how you want it. Sorry to hear about your shawl :( but it does look beautiful xxx
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a wonderful family meal, I'm glad you've been enjoying yourselves. The sun is shining here, so I'm hoping to do a bit of tidying in the garden this morning.
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa .. I've really enjoyed reading about your nice relaxing day at home. Also loving how your shawl is turning out. That colour is going to look stunning on you. Hope you didn't put any of that crab into Dayle's desert :) Great news about Shawn and his family - hope all goes well for them. Oh those roses are still looking beautiful - they must have been freshly cut when you got them. Enjoy the rest of your week. xoxox
ReplyDeleteOh the roses are so lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteYour shawl is very pretty. The frog seems to be visiting us all lately....I had to rip back on the doily Betsy and I are making...but I am back on course again.
Wishing you a most lovely day sweet friend. ((hugs))
We had a quiet day at home yesterday too. Although I had work to do, I let it sit in my inbox and stare at me while I crocheted on a new project and just messed around. I needed a break from that doily. I love that you can laugh about having to pull out all those rows and end up right where you started at the end of the day. Much better than getting all pissy about it! Just enjoy the process. I have to repeat that to myself over and over when things don't go right. Our high is supposed to only be the 40s today too. I'm staying inside all cozy with the pups. Your crab salad looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day...your shawl is going to be lovely. The colours of those roses are simply stunning! Stay cozy and warm. We are now having spring like weather here...it is soooo lovely. xo
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with colour at the moment Teresa in these grey winter days in our corner (that seem never ending!) so your lovely post is really welcome! Your shawl is looking so pretty and the roses are beautiful and happy...lots of knitting going to be happening here today!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday,
Susan x
