I hope you had a good day, full of love, whether you celebrate "the day" or not.  I am big on celebrating lots of things, so I love the day.  We started last night, Dayle took me out to dinner at Tad's Chicken n' Dumplins - we knew it would be very busy tonight.  It was his first venture out to dinner since his knee replacement surgery 2 weeks ago.  I said.. "Honey, are you going to wear those shorts?  With your bandages showing?"  Yes, he was.  :-)  Thank heavens that Oregon is a casual state.

The above box of chocolates were what I gave my little grandsons along with a card.  They loved the chocolates!  I wore my heart pin and pendant made of glass last night and today.

Kristi and the boys got a bunch of V-day balloons and drove down to Travis' work place and decorated his car for him.  Cute, huh?  I guess you could say he was "heart bombed".  The boys thought the balloons would help fly him home fast after work.

Some of my regular readers will know the story of this sign.. the other side is all lit up, but the locals insist this side be left half lit and all of us call it the "Chic Dump".  It's a wonderful old restaurant perched over the edge of the Sandy River and they make the great old fashioned chicken and dumplings.. they also do their fried chicken in a big old cast iron skillet.  That's what we get.

Tads is just 7-8 minutes away from our farmhouse.  The interior is all mellow wood including the ceiling.  Always a fire going.  Very homey.

Dayle had been hankering for some fried chicken, mashed potatoes, chicken gravy and green beans with ham and onions.  Yum.

The owner, Judy, got a quarter out of the till and started a song for us on the juke box.  She's super neat, an old friend of ours.

The boys are happy with their hearts!

This is what I bought for Dayle to give to me.. I also picked out my card for him to give to me.  :-)

Do you like turtles?  A pecan stuck in some caramel and the whole thing dipped in chocolate.  Mmm.

Today I attended a meeting at Multnomah Falls and I met the new Site Manager and I'm very pleased at how nice he seems and he's about to graduate with his Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture!  The falls are just roaring with a lot of water coming over.

I would say it's at peak flow.

The kids just took their little family out for a Mexican dinner, so Dayle and I are relaxing and enjoying ourselves.  I hope you had a fun day full of love and have a great weekend ahead!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Ah, Tad's - that place has been there practically forever. We need to make time to stop - haven't been there in over 20 years. I used to live in Gresham when it was small and I think I remember it way back then - seemed like a very long drive to get there!

Happy Valentine's to you and yours!

  3. You had such a nice day! I feel the same, I just love to celebrate things, so while I do agree that we should show love every day, I like the fun of Valentine's Day too. I would love to go to "Chic Dump"! That's hilarious. The food looks SO good. I love good fried chicken. My son was looking at this post with me and he said your turtles looked "delicious" and also "that's some waterfall!" So you've got his attention. He's a pretty good Valentine. :)

  6. Your day sounds absolutely perfect Teresa. Its probably just as well we don't have those Turtle chocolates here or I'd be adding many more kilos (lbs) to my already ample body :) I love the way you celebrate everything - you have such a happy life and beautiful family. xox

  8. It looks like you had such a fun day today Teresa! I'm so glad that Dayle feels well enough to get out and about. I had to smile at his wearing shorts. I saw people walking around in the snow in Portland last week with shorts on. Right next to people who were dressed like Eskimos. Only in Portland! Maybe us girls can eat at Tad's sometime for lunch. That fried chicken looks wonderful!
    Happy Valentine's Day!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  21. So glad you got to have a special day yesterday even with Dayle a little gimpy (or a lot). Sounds like a really good place to eat. That chicken plate looks divine! We went out yesterday morning and early afternoon and ate at a Thai place. It's way too crowded around here at night on Valentines Day. We had a nice day running around. There may have been some yarn involved. Ha-ha.

  23. It looks like you had a great Valentine's Day and the restaurant looks like a fun place to eat. BTW, that photo IS my real house! It is actually just the left side of the structure. It is in the Folk Victorian style and has a front porch, that I have featured before. Hope you had a great Saturday!

  24. The falls look wonderful in your photos! These new storms should really keep them running at full volume for awhile.
Happy to see you had a great Valentine's Day:) We spent time at the beach (of course) and then went to see a movie that night.
