Let's start at the beginning. I am giving away 3 of my hand crocheted hearts from my own pattern that I wrote out from a heart I bought at a craft show literally decades ago. I figured out the stitches by looking at that heart and over time perfected the pattern. You can try one of your own, the pattern is free and on my sidebar to the right.
First to write out by hand each name of those who entered. I think this might be easier than trying to find and figure out the automatic number generator that some bloggers use. :-) I'm going low-tech here. :-)
41 entries.
More low tech, I cut them up with scissors, folded them and placed them in my newly completed baby hat -- and my dear husband was the one to pick out the winners.
First Prize Winner is -- Christine65! You won a heart, a skein of red thread and printed directions of the heart pattern! (If you don't want the thread and pattern, please let me know. Please email me your home address.
Second Prize -- lscalhoun! You won a heart - please email me your home address.
Third Prize -- Prince Snow Farm! You won a heart - please email me your home address.
(There is a contact form on the bottom of my right sidebar.)
In other news.. I will be taking Dayle to the doctor to get his staples out of his knee - he had a full knee replacement. I think his recovery has been a lot worse than normal due to that he was shot in that thigh (while flying a helicopter in Vietnam) and it wasn't a routine procedure for the surgeon. I thought this was cute, Buddy was interested in something outside and hopped up on his dad's chair to see.
After 3 days of blizzard, we got freezing rain yesterday, I shot this photo of the trees behind our barn covered in ice. All schools were closed today as the roads are treacherous with all the snow which is now covered in a sheet of ice.
Our house and grounds have been pelted with ice cubes and tree twigs and branches for 2 days now.
Hope Dayle is mending well. It sounds lovely and cosy at yours, but I do hope all of that snow and ice thaws soon. Take care Teresa, CJ xx
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa! Congratulations to the winners of your giveaway. I just love the pattern for your hearts and have made several of them. Yeah on Dayle getting his stitches out too!!! Goodness the roads are still icky go here at Mandy's and it's snowing big time in Spokane with another another storm expected tomorrow. I'm planning to go home Wednesday....unless it snows then too. I'm so over winter and we still have lots of it left at home. Hope all goes well for Dayle.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Congrats to the winners! Your hearts are so pretty. Good luck to Dayle tomorrow. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteYea for the winners! I do that the old school way too!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope Dayle is feeling better by now Teresa. I think getting the staples out will help. You have been a good nurse! Loved Downton last night too. Seeing Mary covered in mud head to toe was a hoot.
What do you suppose Mr. Bates will do to that guy that hurt his wife????? I hope he doesn't wind up back in jail!!!! And poor Edith. tsk, tsk, tsk.
Stay in and stay safe and warm!!!
xo Kris
Hi Teresa, I don't even think I entered your heart give away, but I congratulate the lucky winners!!! Boy you really have had quite the snow and sleet. It really looks so pretty though, love the pines and the red barn. How's the nursing? (Flo or Ratchet)haha
ReplyDeleteLove your description of printing, cutting , folding and piking the old fashion way....that's my way too!
Take care my friend, xoRobin
Oh about DAbbey, we watch it faithfully every Sunday, pig scene was somthin'
Congrats to the winners!
ReplyDeleteFirst off congratulations to the three winners! I know they will enjoy their prizes:)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear Dayle's recovery has been a difficult one. I LOVE your photo with Buddy and him!
I was wondering the same thing--especially with our trees/shrubs/plants that are early bloomers. I know the arctic freeze we suffered in December damaged the leaves on two of our plants--you would think that after so many years here, I would learn to cover them:(
Blessings,
Aimee
PS: I imagine there are many hoping the Groundhog was wrong this year!
Congrats to the winners. Love the pictures of the ice, I am glad you are staying in where it is nice and safe. The missing tooth picture is the best! Those boys are growing up so fast. Were you able to order more yarn for your shawl?
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Teresa and a big, big hug for Dayle too.
Meredith
Congratulations to the three winners.Hope you enjoy your prizes-I'm sure you will !! The photo of your doggie is so cute Teresa. I don't know how you cope with all that snow and cold temps. Do you get snowed in very often ? Take care and stay warm. Hope Dayle's knee gets better quickly. xoxox
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...zucchini bread. Sounds tasty!
ReplyDeleteYea for the winners...and for you for your generous gifts, Teresa! I enjoyed Mary's pig caring, too :) Our yard and driveway are still thickly coated with snow/ice and one of our big pine trees has significant damage from the weight of the snow/ice on it. Last year our camellia bush bloomed profusely but this year I can not find even one bud on it...I guess it is it's year of rest. I hope you have a safe drive to the doctors tomorrow and that Dayle makes rapid good progress healing from here on.......and Buddy is adorable :) xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners! What a wonderful gift Teresa! Beautiful pictures! And I'm so glad Dayle looks like he is doing better. Hope you have a good week.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! Thank you so much, Teresa. I shall e.mail you my details.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the lucky winners!
ReplyDeleteSaying a prayer to Dayle that he will recover quickly and that his pain will ease with each day.
And tell him thank you for his service to our country as well. Bless his heart that he has had to deal with being shot in his leg all these years, and now to have it also interfere with his knee replacement. So unfair.
Blessings to you and yours and stay safe and warm my dear friend. :)
Congratulations to the lucky winners! I love the picture of the snowy red barn very much! And the cute one of Buddy! Hope all goes well for Dayle and he recovers well.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy week, Teresa!
Helen xx
Snow in Portland is so unusual! My grandkids loved it, of course! Here in Michigan, we've had so much snow that the lady at the doctor's office yesterday was showing where the bunnies have gotten to near the top of the bushes outside (bushes as tall as me!) and nibbled the nice tasty bark! We, too, are tired of snow, although each new snowfall covers up any dirty snow, so it's been really pretty! Stay safe and warm!

I have used the same low tech means of picking a giveaway winner. It might take a little bit longer than using a random number generator, but it's way more fun. Hopefully your husband feels more comfortable after he gets those nasty staples out of his knee. And you dog looks just like my Westie - watching closely for something to bark at! :-)
ReplyDeleteStill sending all the best to Dayle xo
ReplyDeleteFun fun giveaway. Hooray to the winners.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners. X
ReplyDeleteLow-tech is so much more fun though!!! It's like your very own raffle :-) Hope the staple removing went ok :-s x
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners. Glad that Dayle got his staples removed. I'm sure they were itching and aggravating him. Love Downton Abbey. I bought the first 3 seasons months ago and my youngest daughter and I have been having get togethers and watching them. First night we sat through 3 hours and she would have clearly watched more had I not said we need to save some for next time. I have been watching season 4 on the sly, she would kill me, lol
