Hello my friends! Happy Mother's Day to those who are mothers, and to those who have mothers, and that is all of us. Below is a photo of my Mother, Betty, when she was young. She gave all four of us children a sense of adventure and freedom. She mothered in a way that gave us the freedom to be ourselves and without a lot of rules and restraints. We learned to be independent and loved to go places and learn new things. Mom moved on to her next adventure when she left this earth in March of 2010. I love you Mom!
Below is Dayle's Mom whom we lost a few years ago - she was a sweetheart and taught me to knit and crochet. She was a talented seamstress and worked for Jantzen for years, sewing beautiful clothes and bathing suits.
I also want to honor my daughter Amy and my daughters-in-law Beth and Kristi for being good moms to my 6 grandchildren. I treasure these wonderful kids.
This is a day when we think about our moms. One thing about that is we all had a mom and so no one is left out of celebrating the day. I know we all didn't have perfect life experiences with our moms.. we all wish things might have been different here and there. But I ask everyone, even if they don't have the best memories, to try to think of the good things. The fact is, you wouldn't be here if your mom didn't bring you to this earth, right? :-) So, celebrate the positives and have a happy day. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Two lovely ladies. I think people always look so much more elegant in the old photos than today. Maybe it's the black and white?
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated our Mother's day back in March here Teresa. Sending you and all my American friends my best wishes on this special day. I hope you will be spoilt xx
ReplyDeleteWow, great post! You got to the heart of what it means to celebrate this day. I lost my mom a little over a year ago but was so lucky to have her for almost 60 years. She was my number one fan and cheerleader...couldn't ask for more. I am truly thankful for her, and my children. Happy Mother's Day, Teresa!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful women Teresa, and a lovely post. I hope you've had a good day and that they've spoilt you a little!
ReplyDeleteLovely Teresa! Thank you and what beautiful mothers! xoRobin
ReplyDeleteHappy mothers. Day to one special Mum..... YOU X X X
ReplyDeleteLovely post, Teresa. Yes, all mothers are to be celebrated today. I hope you've had a wonderful Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said Teresa xoxo
ReplyDeleteWise words Teresa! We all need to appreciate out experiences. Happy Mother's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mothers Day to you too Teresa. xox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute to the moms in your family and the wise words. I was blessed to be able to spend the day with my mother-in-law. That doesn't happen much anymore since we live so far away. My nephew gave me flowers and a card. I also talked to all of my children and grandchildren by FaceTime. It was a good day. (Except the tornado warning earlier tonight). All is well now with some, but not a lot of damage around us. ). I'm still listening to the thunder roll all around us while snuggled in my bed.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
We had a lovely celebration over here...phone calls and cards and flowers and dashing out for a meal and like you, Teresa, I appreciate so many mothers! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos and words! I'm sure your mom and mom in law were so special. Thank you for popping in to visit my world. I'm so delighted with my new wee kitty. It is so heartbreaking to lose our precious furry family members. xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch a truly lovely post. Your Mom and MIL were so lovely. Gosh, I don't think you could ever give a more awesome tribute to someone than to say they allowed you to be yourself...that is truly a gift and not a lot of people in this world have. Your MIL sounds as though she was awesome as well. She gave you the gift of crochet and knitting and that will last a life time. Two truly special ladies.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you sweet friend and I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day ! :)
I love the picture of your Mom and MIL, they were both so beautiful and full of life. You are so right, we all have had Mother's and we all do a bit of Mothering even if we aren't Mother's. So it is a good day just to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
We had our Mothers Day over a month ago so I'm about ready to celebrate it again!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos of your mothers and all your grandchildren together. What a lovely thought to keep with you on mothers day.
What a great message my dear friend. Sorry I have been so busy and tired haven't been able to check in often, but I haven't forgotten you. Hope you are dong well and that you had a wonderful Mother's Day with your family. Both yours and Dayle's mom were very pretty. Great pictures.
