Saturday Stuff

Hello, how is your weekend going?  We're just cruising along, doing this and that.  Yesterday we had some rain and obviously some wind as when Dayle and I returned home from errands, lunch out, and my swim - a few of the Stargazer Lily stems were leaning down.. so, hubby snipped me 3 stems for the table.  I wish you could smell how aromatic they are!

I can't tell you how wonderful it is to actually grown your own exotic bouquet!  Thanks, Dayle for planting these bulbs after I ordered them!

After a few days of clouds and some rain the sun is back.  It looks so pretty outside!

Do you have some flowers in a vase?  I love seeing different bouquets on other's blogs.  It's inspirational.

I'm using my leftover KnitPicks cotton to make some colorful pennant flags for a bunting strand.  This is #1.  I'm working on an orange one now.  I plan to decorate camp with them.. leaving a week and a half from now.  :-)

On our errands yesterday we got the boys these HUGE styrofoam glider planes.  Today they got help from their daddy to put them together and were out flying them in the field.  I even tried flying one and it was fun!

Wheeeeeee!

The littlies really enjoy the open spaces that we have here on the farm.. so do I.  The best neighbor is a big patch of your very own ground.  :-)

I told my friend Shirley that if they saw an old jar of marbles in an antique store to grab it and I'd pay her back.  She found this jar of old marbles for $20.  Caleb has had a good time playing with them.  She even bought 3 "shooters" - aka big marbles - 1 for Dayle and each of the boys.  Isn't that nice of her?

Yesterday Travis took the boys and roared off in his 1966 Mustang GT for an adventure.  They ended up in Cascade Locks and hiked over to the island across from the old locks where the fishermen have great luck catching fish - I just LOVE this shot he got of the boys wearing their new riding gloves - see the sternwheeler in the background?

Here are Caleb L and Hayden R - on the bridge over the old locks, on the left is where the fishermen line up and the Bridge of the Gods in the background.

Have you noticed a running thread in my posts..?  Ice cream?  We are a proponent of ice cream in this family.

The boys and their dad are heading out hiking at Latourell Falls.. Dayle is working on making sure our boat trailer is ready for the trip.  He's re-wiring and installing new brake lights and turn signals.  He needs to lube the bearings, too.  We have a double berth boat trailer for our 2 Sunfish sailboats which I haul behind my car.  Dayle hauls the 30 foot trailer behind his Dodge 1 ton dually.

How is your weekend progressing?  I hope you're having fun and living for the moment!  Carpe Diem!!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  1. I can just imagine how scented those lilies are, they are one of my most favourite flowers. Those gliders look a lot of fun, and I have very fond memories of playing marbles when I was little, good to see that kids today still enjoy some of the more traditional pastimes.

  2. I am also a proponent of ice cream. A staunch one. :) It looks like a good Saturday. Love that jar of marbles, how fun! Your lily bouquet is beautiful and I can just imagine how good it smells. Caleb is looking so different to me lately, he's getting big.

  4. Mmm, ice cream lovers here too! Great photos of the boys--nice gliders:) I remember how great Stargazer lilies smell--heavenly!
Today we kept busy between chores here and moving our chef son to his new home. Saw Mt Hood -- she could use a fresh covering of snow but still looked beautiful under the blue sky!

  5. Those Lillie's are gorgeous! I've had a good Saturday too. Swimming, boating and Hubby went canoeing. Since I'm headed your way it will be the last time for awhile. Love the adventures too. I used to have a foam glider-so fun and you can never ever go wrong with ice cream. :-). The bunting looks great and will make your campsite feel like home.
    Blessings,

  6. There's always so much fun and activity over at yours, it's wonderful. We love marbles here as well, the old-fashioned games are never out of favour. It must be fantastic, especially for the boys, to have all of that space. You're right about it being the best neighbour - certainly a lot better than one of ours! Enjoy your Sunday Teresa, CJ xx

  9. Those little fellows of yours are so so cute. Wish I could have some of their ice cream - it looks delish. The Stargazers are stunning - I'm not sure if I've ever had any so don't know what they smell like but if its as good as they look then you're one lucky lady. You're going to be rather busy with the bunting - hope you don't have TOO many triangles to make. Look forward to seeing pics of the campsite - should look great. xox

  12. Hello dear Teresa - I hope you didn't think I'd deserted your blog. After being away at our eldest son@s I have had so much going on. Some family issues, feeling unwell (possibly chest infection ) and i also had to prepare for nine ladies coming to visit me yesterday ( Sat) for crafting!!!! Then in the afternoon we went off to say farewell to the daughter of friends. She is soon leaving for Canada - to teach for a year- swapping with a Canadian teacher. Today I have collapsed in a heap and catching up with my favourite blogs. I have enjoyed looking back at all your posts- beautiful flowers, gorgeous grandsons, pretty purchases and all your news. We might pop out for late lunch later on. enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hugs Anne x

  15. Hi Teresa! Long time, no see! My fault.....as I have been a very bad blogger! Loved catching up here today. Those stargazers are gorgeous! I adore them. The aroma is intoxicating. Love the photos of the boys with their planes, and by the river! So cute! And in previous posts...such pretties! Marbles, Kewpie Dolls, doilies, etc. Fun stuff.
Have a wonderful trip! Can't wait to ride along with you, via your blog!

  17. Aw, ice cream. We like it as well. Keep it on hand at home, like to visit DQ once in awhile. We like Mike's ice cream shop in Hood River. Delicious! Phil repaired front step and primed it yesterday, maybe a coat of dark gray paint today. I enjoyed the bit of rain we had as well. Good relief of the heat wave. Take care and have a good week.

  18. Those flowers are just so gorgeous. I do buy them from time to time but to be able to walk out your door and cut your own must be so amazing. Gosh those boys are so adorable, they are just the cutest. Love your bunting.
    Hugs to you Teresa,
    Meredith

  19. What a wonderful weekend! Those styrofoam planes bring back memories of my childhood. My brothers used to have ones very similar to those, just a bit smaller. And summer and ice cream seem to belong together, don't they? :-)
