Hello from my mellow farmhouse in the Oregon countryside. I am taking a day off - to not think of anything whatsoever that I need to do. And do what I want. No worrying about appointments that need to be made, reports and agendas to write.. I'm just going to watch HGTV (Home and Garden TV) with one eye and crochet with my other eye. LOL! Hubby is happily sitting beside me checking his Facebook account and Kristi is feeding the boys lunch and doing laundry. It's cloudy outside which is fine by me. Bring it on. I'm thinking it's time to bring out the fall wreath for the back door and put some crocheted pumpkins on the table. But that can wait until tomorrow when it's officially September.
This is the pattern that my blog friend Meredith suggested to me. I didn't feel like working on it during the summer.. but now that tomorrow is Fall.. :-).. I worked on it while volunteering at Multnomah Falls and it's the perfect thing to work on this nice low-key cloudy day.
This is Blue Sky "Alpaca Silk" - 50% of each. It's a dream to work with - it's darker than in this photo.. a rich red. This is going to be quite something to wear near the holidays.. I might need to make a hat to match!
When the boy's girl cousins visited for 2 weeks, Caleb's Lemur that they won at the State Fair last year was a casualty. The head, body and tail were all torn apart. So, grandma did some re-stuffing and sewing...
I was happy to show Caleb his Lemur - but he proceeded to tell me that I stuffed it too much and it wasn't right. Hmmm... well, deal with it. LOL!
OK, back to crocheting.. when hubby and I get hungry for lunch we have Chinese leftovers. And life is good. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Oh dear, an overstuffed lemur, whatever next! Life sounds good with you, I'd happily come and sit on your sofa with some crochet and watch home and garden tv, it sounds blissful. The yarn you've chosen for the shawl is delightful, such a gorgeous colour. It will be just right for those chilly winter days. Have a good week Teresa. CJ xx
ReplyDeleteI say kick up your heels, relax and do what you want, it is about time. You lead a whirlwind life and I feel like mine is such a bore. On Friday I cracked my left foot on the leg of my daughter's dining room chair and now the toes are bruised, puffed and OUCH! I did use up some ripe tomatoes that were piling up. Yesterday I put on a pot of spaghetti sauce and in a separate pot some pizza sauce to freeze. I cheated on the pizza sauce, it was a package of Mrs. Wages mix and all you had to do was add tomatoes and sugar, but I did a short cut. I simmered both sauces over night and got it all in containers this morning and into the freezer they went. Maybe I do more later in the week depending on my tomato supply. Where has the summer gone anyways? Here we go talking pumpkins and it won't be long the leaves will be turning and falling. The yarn you are using for the Elise Shawl is lovely. I always liked red. I have made 2 or 3 of that pattern. The red will be a good color for the up coming holidays. Have a good week.
ReplyDelete(((HUGS))) Susanne :)
Well, the stuffed Lemur will probably go down a bit if Caleb just hugs it more! It was quite chilly here yesterday and again today. Gonna make up a batch of applesauce later. Yesterday Megan helped me can another 6 pints of peaches. I need to find a pattern for knitted sox. I have sox yarn, with alpaca in it to make for Phil and a set for me too. Start the search over again! Have a good weekend! Relaxing is a good thing! :0)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect day to me!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having a lovely weekend :-) Your shawl is coming along well! My shawl is in a basket beside my chair and I have crocheted another row. xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful day! I love days like that! And, I love HGTV too. Do you watch "Fixer Upper" with Chip and Joanna Gaines? I'm so hooked on that show right now. I love it! I like "Property Brothers" too. Your red project is really pretty! Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!!!!! Beautiful shawl you are working on. And oh that Caleb!!!!
ReplyDeleteXO Kris
Perfect day!
ReplyDeleteWe spent a good portion of the afternoon with HGTV on too-of course we were chasing Piper around too so I didn't finish watching many of the shows! :-). It's feeling like fall here too and supposed to be 49 degrees tonight. I'm NOT ready for fall at all. I've missed so much of lake time this summer that I'm rebelling and refusing to let time March on. How do you think that will work? Are you and Gracie making the same shawl? Your yarn is gorgeous and the color is beautiful....I can just see you in a matching hat. Stylin Teresa! Go for it!
ReplyDeleteBlessings my friend,
Betsy
Enjoy your perfect day. ...I'm just off to work. .lol x
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day, TV and crochet sounds good. The shawl is stunning I love the rich colour of the yarn. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteLove your day. That shawl is going to be a beauty. I think it should be a big gat with a feather. It will echo your " kick up my heels and gave a lovely day" attitude xxx
ReplyDeleteThat lemur will compact a lot when they start playing with him again. I'm looking forward to seeing your shawl, those are always so pretty. I'd like to make one eventually myself, especially since I have a personal connection to the name. :)
ReplyDeleteTeresa, Im trying to embrace the lazy days. I feel GUILTY hanging out, but once my steps are done…I love to sit sit sit and knit
ReplyDeleteMmmmm that red yarn looks so gorgeous and it looks as though you've done quite a bit so should be finished soon. Very pretty. Aren't you a clever cookie being able to mend that Lemur so well - almost looks like new. Enjoy your day. xox
ReplyDeleteYOur shawl is looking so wonderful, I bet that yarn is a dream to work with. I love the comment about the lemur, with enough love the stuffing will get flat before you know it.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
