Moon Rocks

Hello my friends!  I know I promised to share with you some of our old family photos of our time in Louisiana, but life got in the way.  We will have to go through old photo albums, find the photos, remove them, scan them, and I will have to fiddle with them like cropping and brightening, etc.  In other words, it's not a fast procedure.  We still plan to do it, but... Sunday we spent the day visiting our older son's family and going to see the house they are having built.  Then today I had my DAR meeting, then swimming with Gracie.  So.. I'll have to make do with photos I've taken over the last few days.  The other evening my son Travis and his wife were hanging out on the deck and called to me that the moon was orange.  Say no more, I grabbed my new camera to experiment how it would do with a 30 zoom instead of a 20.  Oh. My. Goodness!  I'm so happy with the image I got!  WAY better than my other Lumix!  It's a few days from full on this one, but I love seeing all that detail!

Dayle and I headed home around 6:30 pm and I said.. let's go see if the moon is up at Portland Women's Forum.. I first snapped this of Vista House and the Columbia River Gorge - I just love the pastel pink sky and deepening hues of the blue cliffs of the gorge and the silver pink river.

A bit closer.. so pretty.

I then turned my attention to the yellow orange moon.  Have you ever noticed it has a belly button?

Heading back towards the West to our farmhouse, I pulled off the road so we could snap this shot of the sunset over the coast mountain range.

Dayle was snapping these out of our car window and when I downloaded them onto my computer and into iPhoto, we were delighted to see we captured a jet plane flying into PDX airport!

Then.. later after the gold of the moon was gone, and it was higher in the sky, from our deck behind the farmhouse, I got this beauty.  I'm in love!  Moon shots are one of the most favorite things I hoped to get on a camera, and why I bought that frustrating BIG fancy camera (which the shots I got on it were just plain white spots).  My new LUMIX has made the grade.  I'm thrilled.

On Saturday I took a day off.. and crocheted my 4th rock "cozy".  You either GET IT, or you don't.  Which category are YOU?  Love crocheted rocks.. or think it's simply ridiculous? 

I seriously need to crochet another rock cozy asap as an artistic display always has an odd number.. 4 won't do.  Right?  Do you like my granite rock vase?  I think it goes well with the rock cozies.

An odd thing happened, we ran across this photo of Dayle while looking for New Orleans photos and then the next day my sister sent me a scan of this photo which I must have given to her.  I did a little photoshopping on it, removing some yellowing and zapping out some dust and it looks good!  This is my guy at the helm of Stargazer as we sailed up the Columbia River towards Hood River.  It was a great day.

This is our son Shawn, his wife Beth, their boys Michael and Gabriel in front of the house they are having built.  Notice the tall garage door?  It's for their "toy hauler" 5th wheel trailer.  :-)  NOTE: The garage doors will be painted to match the grey siding.

I will show you more photos when things are done.  But it's a nice house!  Now - the New Orleans retrospective is going to have to wait longer, because I talked hubby into going to Kahneeta Hot Springs Resort tomorrow, and something  fun came up which I'll tell you about soon.. it involves a further trip and an overnight adventure.. talk to you soon!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
