New Rock Cozy

Hello my friends!  How is your week going?  We've been rather busy this week but today is a fairly calm one - we're going shopping for groceries this afternoon - I am making a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting for a birthday dinner for my twin older siblings, Robert and Roberta tomorrow.  On Sunday our daughter's husband is coming for dinner as he's in Portland on business.  We're making a baked ham and scalloped potatoes and have invited our older son's family too.

Travis and Kristi brought me two rocks from their beach trip and I've crocheted a new "cozy".  Can you pick out the new one?  Which one is your favorite?

It's the one on the right!  I've been using a crochet doily book for patterns for the centers of doilies that would be pretty as rock covers.  I really like the open work of this last one as it shows a lot of the rock itself.

Do you like the new one?

It's kind of fun to stack them up, the boys actually like them and like to play with them.

So, if you want to try one of these, find a nice rounded rock, I like the flat-ish ones, and oval-ish ones.  Then find a crochet doily book - they should have a lot of them in the thrift stores, craft and yarn stores.  I use a size 7 steel hook.

I'll be sure and show you how the carrot cake turns out.  :-)  I hope you have a terrific weekend!!
((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  8. Love the cozies. They make beautiful designs on those rocks. BTW, to answer your question, we have 25 acres. Most of it in pasture with natural springs and waterfalls.

  11. I like your new pattern and the little rock to the right of it in your last picture the best, but they're all beautiful. Fun family times for you all this weekend, it's too bad Amy and the girls couldn't be there too. I'm still working on Mandy's wonderful wallaby sweater but I'm up to the hood so I'm down to the home stretch now!
    Blessings,

  15. Yummy to the carrot cake! I like all of your rock cozies, but the new one really complements the shape of the rock! I also love the small rock on the right side of the last photo for the same reason. Very nice work Teresa and a terrific weekend to you too:)

  20. I like the design of your new one, with it's open star-like pattern, but perhaps I like the other big one the best because it looks like a real seashell. I've got to find a rock and get to crocheting!! When you live in the big city, it's hard to find rocks. This would be an awesome camping memory project, to crochet one rock from every camping trip. What a collection you'd have after a few years!

  21. I love all your rocks! So pretty! I don't follow a pattern, but perhaps I should. :) I don't know how you stay so busy. I swear, when I come home from school, I am such a slug. And when weekends roll around, I just want to sit here and crochet. Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

  22. These are so clever and pretty, I cant choose a favourite! And they go so well with the wreath too.

Thanks for your recent comment, I did get Belgian chocolate, but none lasted long enough to be photographed ;)

We are getting ready to watch the Grand Prix later on TV, do you guys follow Indy Car or NASCAR (or neither)?

  24. I love all your crochet rocks! Would be hard to choose a favorite, but your newest one does have a nice, open design. I think crocheted rocks are interesting. My mom keeps one I made her on her front porch on a ledge for people to leave notes under. I guess a lot of people do that in the senior community where they live. Everybody looked at me weird when I gave it to her along with her present on her birthday one year...like why would you crochet on a rock??? Ha-ha. They just don't get it.

  25. I like your rock cozie. That be fun for my bug white agate I got at Bandon, on the beach. I hide it when grandchildren are here, esp Owen, who likes to throw things. Too bad I don't crochet. Of course you need a cozie for your rock, cuz it's a pet, right? :-}

  26. Hello my friend, I am reading if not always commenting here. I think the weather in Oregon is quite similar to Gloucestershire, with a bit more snow! Our summer has been fabby too. Love CNxx
