Do you recognize these people? Rather fetching, aren't they? I'd seen people talking about "Outlander" on other blogs and when we were clicking around on the television looking for something to watch, I saw this show and said, let's check that out! Oh. My. Goodness. What a good series this is! Now I must warn you - it's not PG or for the faint of heart. But the story is amazingly interesting. We've watched 2 or 3 episodes at a time and have caught up to current showings. I am going to download the first book and read it on the plane. This is set in 1743 Scotland. I just love being taken back to that time and seeing the costumes and castle sets. Love!
This is the hero of the series, Jamie Fraser. Oh. Yeah.
Kristi asked for my camera the other day and captured our little squirrel sitting in the planter.. munch munch.
Last friday I met with Taci to give her the ten little baby hats that I made for her - she is going to Brazil this summer to spend time with her mother and family and her mom collects baby things for underprivileged expectant mothers in a mountain town. Taci wanted to take as many hats as she could collect to help out. Gracie joined us too and brought her three hats.
Our cute little pile of good deeds. :-) It was time to say goodbye to them and think of the sweet little heads that they will warm and protect. And I'm hoping they will be used and passed on and on.
We dined at Boccelli's in Gresham. I always get the Farfalle with mushrooms, asparagus and salmon in a alfredo sauce. Nummers.
Taci surprised me with an early birthday gift! A cute card, some pretty pale aqua cotton, an aqua candle, some Easter chocolate and a neat pocket filled with seeds that you can warm in the microwave oven and put on a sore muscle. Isn't that sweet? Thank you, Taci!
The girls. I brought my bag to show them, it's not finished yet, though. I also brought each of them a big sprig of purple lilacs to take home.
I want to update you on my friends John and Molly at Celtic Swan - who make the wonderful sterling silver crochet hooks. John is very ill and Molly has been taking care of him. John used to make all the crochet hooks but has taught Molly how he did it so she could carry on their business. I ordered two hooks some time ago and Molly's hooks arrived last Wednesday. I am happy to say that Molly has produced two exquisite hooks for me - a C and E - to fill out my collection. I wanted to show you - the one John made is on the top - my beloved G hook - the two below are Molly's work. I am very happy with them.
And so I must bid you adieu for a while. I have to be at the airport at 4 am. Tomorrow night I will be sleeping in an old hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans.. with a balcony out the door and 3 courtyards to enjoy. I will try to post a few photos from my iPad when I have a few moments. I hope you have a good week ahead of you! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Have a wonderful time on your trip, Teresa! I loved seeing you with Taci and Gracie. The hats you made are lovely and they will make some babies very warm and cozy. Take care and safe travels.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the beautiful, fragrant, purple lilac bloom, and the Premier Home creme colored cotton yarn, Teresa! They are lovely reminders of you :) Wishing you a happy, safe trip!!! xx
ReplyDeleteAll those little hats are so cute and colorful. It's so sweet of you to donate your time and materials. Safe travels and have fun in NOLA.
ReplyDeleteOh enjoy your trip and look forward to your photos and journey report. Hope it is warmer there. So chilly here today with the rain lately. Take care!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful time my dear friend. I sure had fun seeing you at our lunch. Thank you oft the hats.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels Teresa - hope you have a lovely time away and take some great pics. How I envy you 'girls' and how you regularly get together for fun times. The hats you and Gracie made for Taci's mother are very pretty. Your new Celtic Swan hooks look great - its so good that John has taught Molly the 'craft' and good that she's doing such a great job. I have two of John's hooks from many years ago. I don't use them as they're tucked away with my 'special' hooks which I occasionally get out and just look and enjoy them. Mine are small sizes - perhaps I ought to look into getting a 4.5mm which I might possibly use ! Look forward to seeing your holiday pics. xox
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful time Teresa, the French Quarter sounds delightful, I shall expect photos! CJ xx
ReplyDeleteHave a good trip. I love your crochet hooks. I bought a wooden one recently and it split after I'd been using it for about a week. Not good!
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you took beautiful lilacs for Taci and Gracie! The little hats are so sweet and such a kind idea. Wishing you a wonderful trip, dear Teresa!

Hi Teresa - have a wonderful trip and safe travels. Hugs Anne x
ReplyDeleteI've read the Outlander books but haven't seen the series.
ReplyDeleteHave a fab trip - we expect pictures if you can find the time.
Thanks for the link to Celtic Swan. I 've said a sprayer for them. Have a very safe trip to New Orleans.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear all about it
I hope that your travels will be safe and wonderful!! xx
ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate enough to live in the next village to Culross ( village setting of the Clan MacKenzie Outlander) 20 miles from Doune Castle ( MacKenzie Castle ) and 40 miles from Falkland the village where Claire and Frank started their honeymoon. We were there last month having a coffee totally unaware the village had been used. Love the crochet hooks .
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to some NOLA photos! I thought the first book in the Outlander series was the best :)
ReplyDeleteBon Voyage Teresa!
ReplyDeleteHave some creole and a beignet for me!
Alright, you've sold me! I've also heard about that Outlander show and wasn't sure, but show me a bonnie wee laddie in a kilt and I'm there! I always love popping by your blog, as it looks like you have so many fun adventures and take such interesting photos. I'm very jealous of you guys across the pond having cute little animals like squirrels and chipmunks. Although we do have cute Ringtail possums etc, I've been in love especially with Chipmunks since I was a little girl watching Disney cartoons of Chip and Dale. Thanks for another wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of that squirrel! That pile of hats for Taci is so impressive. They are all so pretty. Taci brought you a haul for your birthday! How nice! Y'all have fun in Louisiana. Give yourself and Kris a big hug from me! HAVE FUN!!
ReplyDeleteTeresa, I am running late as usual. I read that book and I had to say it was exciting but I put it down, there was just so much sex and I am no prude. I hear the other books in the series are even better than the first. It will be a good, long read for you. I do want to see the series. Lovely pile of hats for dear Taci. So glad you ladies were able to get together. Mine finally got to her, they were lost in the mail for one month. Happy Birthday early and have a terrific trip. I have always wanted to go to New Orleans.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
I've read all the books, and they are GOOD! But after awhile, I *did* get kinda tired of all the raping and pillaging and war and death. And each book is as big as War And Peace, but they are a very very good read. Sometimes I was up until the wee hours of the morning reading, and then would schlep to work and try to stay awake. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Scot and a great fan of Outlander. The books are great and I've been watching the series on TV. Visited many of the locations used in the series.

You will love the books. I've read the first one and started the 2nd. I don't have Starz so can't watch the new season but I'm catching the first season on StarzGo. I hope you have a great trip and take lots of photos.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sharon
Enjoyed your post, as always, Teresa. Hope you are having a great time in New Orleans. Those hooks are gorgeous, btw! :)
