Made it to Corning CA

Hi Friends!  We got on the road before 9 am - and drove all through Oregon from top to bottom, into California and past Mt. Shasta and Redding and are settled into a room in Corning, CA.  About 1/3 down from Redding to Sacramento.  We're heading out soon to find dinner.  I drove the whole way!  Here we are pulling out from the farm after loading way too many things in the car.  :-)

I am not pleased with Mt. Shasta.. it's hiding from me.  Trust me, it's a beautiful mountain.

Dayle snapped this right before we lost sight of it... through the windshield.

To prove we're in California, here is a fan palm.. I have NEVER seen one in bloom like this.. have you?  Isn't it awesome?  I took this from our hotel room window.

These pretty alliums are in bloom in the hotel flower beds.

Some white ones.

Oh.. and look what came in the mail to me.. such a wonderful surprise from Pammy Sue!!

Pammy Sue is packing and moving way up north in Washington State, from Texas, and in all her busyness still was thinking of others and sent me this doily since she knew how much I loved it!  Isn't that sweet and generous!?  I love it, thank you so much Pammy Sue!

Tomorrow we drive to Sacramento and then head up into the mountains to Lake Tahoe.  I can't wait to see it again!
Love to you all.. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  3. Yea! Glad you made it safely to your first destination! I LOVE Mt. Shasta and even though she was hiding from you, I still enjoyed seeing her. That fan palm sure is interesting--I have spent a lot of time in Cali and don't recall ever seeing one...of course my mind was on other things at that time like Disneyland, San Diego and such. Beautiful doily!
Looking forward to seeing part II...safe travels!
    Blessings, Aimee

  5. The fan palm is beautiful! I have never seen one in bloom. The doily Pammy Sue sent you is amazing as well...such a thoughtful and generous gift! Your trip is off to a grand start even though you are a bit put out with Mt. Shasta :) Thanks for posting! xx

  6. We are surrounded by date palms here, but the first time I recall seeing the blooming palms was in Dubai a year or so ago. All the powdery stuff was floating down like snow. I bet allergy sufferers don't like it so much but it was very interesting to see. Glad you are on your way. The doily from Pammy Sue is beautiful. Best wishes, Tammy

  8. Oh wow, lucky lucky you receiving one of Pammy Sue's beautiful doilies. That was very thoughtful and sweet of her to to that. I'm not familiar with the US geography so don't know about distances etc. but I'm imagining you travelled a fair way. The fan palm looks very pretty - the other two flowers are known as Agapanthus over here. Look forward to your next 'installment'. xox

  13. Hello there dear friend. I have missed you immensely! I am missing my blog and my blogging friends. I must get back to it soon. But today, I am stealing away some time to catch up with all of you. Your trip is going to be fabulous. And we have cooled down quite a lot too. You are bound to see many wonderful things, and I will look forward to hearing all about it, as only you can describe, via your fabulous photos!
Your holiday looked wonderful! Full of good food, and lots of little people!!!! A lot like mine!

  14. Hope you stopped into the Olive Pit to pick up some tasty olives & other goodies. I found a wonderful spoon there made from olive wood on one of our many trips back and forth to San Diego. Corning is the perfect halfway point from Portland to San Diego.
If you're going anywhere near Indio you just have to stop at Shields Date Garden for one of the best date shakes in the world.
    Happy travels you two!

  16. It just dawned on me - I think that might be a flowering date palm tree in your photo.
Then again I might be wrong.
