I volunteered at Multnomah Falls yesterday with my BFF Shirley. We've had a lot of rain lately and the Falls was RoArInG! When I went out to get some espresso for Shirley and I, after putting in the order at the coffee cart I walked up towards the Falls to snap a photo and to just enjoy watching the water rush down the cliff and over the rocks. When it's high flow, there are 7500 gallons PER SECOND going over.
I got this shot from the volunteer parking area which gives you a different perspective. It's on the other side of Multnomah Creek which was also rushing and deep.
Benson Bridge... see the massive amount of water behind it?
I zoomed in to the top of the Falls.. roar!
The water coming over from the first pool.
This is the other side of the creek.. there is a big patch of lime green lichen which I love seeing. I tried to show you how much moss covers the trees and branches, too.
I took my blue booties to work on and I was happy to finish the 2nd one. These are for my son's friend at work, the one who took him Salmon fishing. He and his wife had their first child, a boy. I was able to send them to work with Travis today. I hope they like them.
Done.. woohoo. Now I have a pair of pink booties to do and the baby boom is over in my life.. for now. :-)
My cousin Nancy received the booties I sent to Texas and delivered them to her youngest daughter for her first baby.. and she sent me this photo. They seem to fit just right with a bit of room for growth. Sweet!
I found two more hearts that were given to me by two blogger friends, the one on the left is from Helen Philipps who is a wonderful crafter and author of several books. The one on the right is from my friend and swimming partner Gracie. Both hearts hang all year on my grandfather clock and TV stand.
One of the other local bloggers and friend, Kathy, from Running With Rocket blog, was in Hawaii and had a giveaway contest which I won and look at this big bag of Macadamia nuts she sent! NUMMMERS! Thanks, Kathy!
And look what greeted me this morning! Kristi brought home this bromeliad! It's just starting to open and should be very impressive when it is all pouffy!
A pretty color, isn't it?
It's a swimming day. I'll be on my own as Gracie has things to do. I hope it's not too crowded! My blog friend Anne in England has started to swim, good for you, Anne! I hope you love it. I hope you have a great weekend. We're going to visit our older son on Saturday because their flight was delayed last week and we had to go home before they arrived. Do you have any fun plans? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
I absolutely *love* the pics of the falls! Thank you so much for sharing them, Teresa. This is probably as close as I'll ever get to them. lol Your booties...both blue and pink...are adorable. Cute hearts, and I love the plant, too! Hope you have a great weekend, my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteThose little booties are adorable, not to mention that little cutie pie wearing them. I like how they go up the leg a little bit, not so easy to kick off and get cold feet. The photos of Multnomah Falls . . . gorgeous, I love all the bright green moss, too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great swim!
Connie :)
Such a baby boom in your life lately, how wonderful. I'm sure your booties are much appreciated. It's always nice to see photos of the falls. They sure are flowing right now. I hope your swim was good and that you have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing here Teresa! We finally had almost all of it gone, just the piles were left by the ends of the driveways. And now in the last hour the grass is all covered once again. I love your pictures of Multnomah Falls. It's one of my favorite places to visit when we head over to the coast. Beautiful job on the booties...the little baby with the booties on is just too cute! No big plans for the weekend for us. We had planned to leave on the cruise early tomorrow morning. Since my birthday is Monday, Neal and Jenny have decided they're taking us to dinner tomorrow night to celebrate. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and have fun with your son and his family.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Betsy
You should get another heart tomorrow. I have a friend visiting from Finland next September and we will definitely run up to Multnomah Falls.
ReplyDeleteTrying to think of how much I can cram into the week she is here.
I have a running list going. The oregon tourism people sent me some heavy books/magazines/pamphlets that will cost a pretty penny to get to her in Helsinki - I may have to send websites instead.
What a beautiful bromeliad-love the color! And the falls is amazing with all that water--wow! I don't think I have ever seen it like that. Great job on the baby booties:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Aimee
That's a lot of water there Teresa, I can almost hear the roar! Sweet booties. Have a fun weekend x
ReplyDeleteGosh those falls are incredible - you can almost hear that rush in your photos. Doesn't that cute little girl look sweet in her pink booties. Like the blue ones too and I'm sure Travis' work friend and his wife will love them too. Oh yum, those macadamias wouldn't last too long around here - you're a lucky lady to have won those. Enjoy xox
ReplyDeleteI've just been catching up with your blog again Teresa, I keep finding myself offline for a week and more at a time, but reading a lot of my chums posts in one go is hardly a hardship. The booties are so sweet. And Wow! at the falls at the moment. Is that a man in shirtsleeves I see on the bridge? Was it that warm?
ReplyDeleteThe falls are incredible, and it isn't until you see the bridge and the people that you realise the scale of just how enormous they are and how much water is cascading over them. A true beauty of nature! xx
ReplyDeleteI love your plant! and the blue baby booties are too dang cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the wonderful photos you took at the falls...amazing sights...the close ups...all...WOW!!! Yay for getting the handsome blue booties done, and it is so much fun to see the baby wearing the pretty pink ones you made :) You are a Sweetheart! Friday flew by, I got some chores completed at home and made it to and from the post office too, and feel more rested somehow. I realized Louis would have been 71 yesterday! The bromeliad is lovely. I was not successful keeping one happy years ago, but I can imagine yours thriving at your house! I am going to focus on stitching today and tomorrow, but also recruiting more knitters and crocheters at church tomorrow for the Wednesday morning preemie blanket making group. They have a neat program on the church website to help keep groups connected, and that was another thing I got to work on yesterday. Hope you are having a happy visit with your oldest son's family :) xx
ReplyDeleteThe falls looking so lovely. As always! Your baby booties are so nice and I'm sure the recipients liked them. Who wouldn't? This weekend is busy. I was at my daughter in love's baby shower this afternoon. Tomorrow is a baby shower in afternoon for a lady from our church. So many babies being born lately...amazing! Take care and have a good week!
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa. What beautiful photos of the falls! Wow, that's a lot of water! I love the green moss lichen and moss too! Sweet photo of the little baby with her cute pink booties on. I know your son's friend will appreciate the pair you made for their new son too.
ReplyDeleteLove the hearts!
xo Kris
Your life is filled with wonderful people who love you.

The falls are so beautiful. Those booties look so traditional, and I love that!
ReplyDeleteWho needs Niagara Falls when you've got Multnomah Falls! Amazing scenery. And the booties are just so dang adorable. You've received a whole lot of lovely gifts. Happy February!
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa - I like being described as 'your friend from England' :-) I did my first swim - really enjoyed it. Had a few days break as we were in Yorkshire visiting eldest son ( more on my blog later)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos - what a gorgeous baby and the booties are the sweetest, The falls look amazing!! Love, love the hearts. The Bromeliad is a pretty shade. I'm experimenting with my camera - hope to have photos soon. Hugs Anne x
