A New Journal for a New Year

Hello!  Did you have a big New Year's Eve?  We celebrated at home, watching "Suits" and capping it off with the NYE celebrations on TV.. wished each other a wonderful 2018 and then hit the hay.  I was reading about the Prince Harry's fiance', Meghan Markle, and when we were scrolling through Netflix we saw it and decided to try it out.. it is SO clever and SO good that now we're binge watching it here and there.  I highly recommend watching it. NOW.. I bought a packet of notebooks from Pendleton and decided today was a good day to open them up and begin using one for the new year.

There were 3 designs, which one is your favorite?

picked the cream background one for my first to use.  I gave one to Kristi, too.  I think I'll put my year "bucket list" at the beginning.  I want to take Dayle on a trip to Victoria BC and to the other islands, Friday Harbor and Orcas Island.  Where would YOU pick to travel to if you could pick anywhere?  If the sky was the limit, I would pick Fiji.  One of those thatched cottages on stilts in the water where they deliver your breakfast via canoe.  :-)

I got some new ink.. well.. I had too.. because it has fine gold flecks in it.. :-D  It's J. Herbin 1670 Anniversary Fountain Pen Ink - Emerald of Chivor.

See the gold flecks on the bottom?  You have to shake the bottle before you fill your fountain pen.  I love it!

I thought I'd share what is allowable on a low carb regimen.  This is a crab salad.  Yesterday for lunch I had a baked cod filet with a lemon butter herb sauce and sauteed broccoli.

Shelby and Meeka.. I was going to photoshop the lint off the carpet, but in the spirit of being real I didn't.  LOL!  Kristi gets them toys all the time and the dogs love to shred them.  We call them "German Shredders".

My resolution this year is to stick with my low carb regimen, to keep swimming, to be a loving and supportive grandmother, mother and wife.  Do you have anything you want to accomplish in the new year?  Do share!  ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  5. Your new year resolutions sound so perfect to me. I like a low carb regimen. I started it early in 2017 to lose weight and found it made me feel so much better, overall. I hope you stick with it.

  6. Those books come straight from my childhood! :-). It was Pendleton everything at our house. My goal is to try to be healthier in all ways this year. And read my Bible everyday. Those are my main goals. Travel anywhere? Well I would love to go to Japan to see Alex soon but my favorite place is Maui.
    Happy New Year Teresa.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  7. Swimming is on my list too, we have a small pool in the local school that is open to the public in the evening. The German shredders are a joy, beautiful. The salad looks delicious, healthier choices is certainly a must I have piled on the weight with all my recent travels. Hope Dayle is feeling much better.

  10. We have a shredder dog :-) it is really quite funny watching him tear his toys to pieces. I am wishing you all the best for the new year and I look forward to reading about your thoughts, crafting and family in 2018. I don't have resolutions as such but listened to an interesting podcast today where the presenters discussed social trust and how important it is for a happy prosperous community/countries/world. Social trust is built by participating in the community, by breaking down barriers etc and I think I would like to be more active again in my own community, just like I used to be but maybe a bit less all consuming. xx

  11. Hello Teresa. Love your books. The ink sounds fabulous. well Teresa, what can I say - a big thank you for the one and only comment on my last blog post is it worth it I wonder? I am feeling a little dispirited I must admit. Enough of that though. If I could I would visit your neck of the woods, DH has somewhat lost his confidence though re travel. I have never been to the US - he has - with work - me no!!! So m many places I would love to see. I hope to spend more time for just me, DH and our family. I also pray that mum will be more settled. Happy New Year. Hugs Anne x

  13. My word for 2018 is 'focus'. It's the only resolution I need. If I can do this one thing 'hopefully' most everything else will fall into place.
