Border Next and Frosted Falls

We had a mellow weekend.  With one very awful event.  More on that later.  I got all my ends woven in on my Sweet Pea Trellis blanket designed by Lucy at Attic24 blog.  I used the colors she chose, made by Stylecraft, a lovely soft acrylic yarn.  I spread it across the end of our bed to shoot a photo.  I realized as I spread the blanket across the duvet cover that the colors match very well!  Lucy will share the border design this Friday and I will commence to crochet the finishing touches to this blanket.  :-)

The "Awful Event".  I used my sewing scissors that I shared with you on Friday to sew in all my ends and snip the excess off.  I must have dropped them on the floor.. I saw something in the living room and went to inspect and horrors.. it was the remainders of my beloved scissors.  I guess to a 9 month old girl dog they looked like fair game.  Like a bone.  ::sigh::  What is the worst thing a pet of yours has ruined?  Do share.  ::sigh::

We had a restful and quiet weekend (excluding the tragedy).  I finally had time to peruse my magazines which had been adding up in my rack.  Have you ever read one of these?  It's full of wonderful things.

I admit to drawing in my breath when I turned to this page.  This magnificent castle is now an inn.. can you imagine staying here?

Partaking of tea in this dining room would be quite the occasion, wouldn't it?

Dayle ran an errand to Multnomah Falls on Friday and snapped these two images for me.  It's fun to see everything tipped with white frosting.

It's interesting to see how many people venture out to the falls to see the ice and snow there.

I have a report to finish today for a board meeting tonight, other than that not a lot going on today.  What are you up to?

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  2. Hi Teresa. So sorry I've not been by in a while - life you know. Have enjoyed reading back through your posts.
Some stunning photos! Your poor scissors. My son used my very expensive dressmaking scissors to cut up wrapping paper! His dog has destroyed a lot of things - the thing though that made my D.I.L. cry so much was when he chewed up a little album of our grandson when a baby - the album had been made and photos added by her friend. So sad.
The falls and surroundings are just stunning. Hugs Anne x

  3. Oh dear, what a shame about the scissors. There has been plenty of destruction here. Doormat, laptop cable, a basket, two dog baskets and forty socks. It looks chilly with you. Hope you have a good week. CJ xx

  4. I was procrastinating over a lecture at work... puppies are just so naughty, aren't they? What a shame that your scissors are all chewed up but at least Mocha didn't come to any harm. Our dog got into my yarn bag once, it was pretty disastrous but funny at the same time. What an amazing bedroom you have! Your blanket is indeed a great match. Nearly done! It is looking great. Have a lovely week. xx

  6. Sorry about your scissors! Pets can ruin a lot of things, but they don't know better. *sigh* Not much going on around here. Glad to have this Monday off from work :)

  8. That afghan is just perfect for your bed. So sorry to hear about your beautiful scissors though. Just last night Giroux knocked over one of the LED candles we have in the front window and the bulb shattered on the wood floor. Trying to get the bulb out, I sliced my KNITTING FINGER!!! (He didn't MEAN to knock it over. I moved his cat tree and I think that will help avoid any further problem.)

I used to read Victoria Magazine. For awhile it wasn't very good so I stopped getting it. Looks like I might have to reconsider.

  9. Hi Teresa - your blanket looks beautiful. And your lovely carved bed is beautiful, too. So sorry about your scissors, and especially after you just posted about how fond you were of them. I hope you'll be able to replace them. Our dogs are pretty good, but they're confined to the kitchen/dining area when we're not with them. When our pug, Roscoe, was a puppy he chewed the legs of our wooden kitchen chairs and table and just about ruined them. He's 12 now and we finally replaced the set about a year ago - long after he stopped chewing them!

  10. What a beautiful blanket. I love the colors and it does match your duvet. I would love to dine in that dinning room and roam the halls of the wonderful old palace. So stunning and if only the walls could talk wouldn't we get an ear full. Have a great week.

  12. Your blanket looks perfect on your bed, Teresa! I'm sorry to see those lovely scissors broken. I have subscribed to Victoria for years. Isn't it wonderful? The falls are magnificent and so are your husband's photos! I can see why folks visit that beautiful area in the winter. ♥

  13. Too bad about the scissors, they can be replaced, but puppies are irreplaceable.
The falls are so pretty this time of year. Dayle took some good shots.

  14. So sorry about the scissors, and surely Mocha is too. Dayle got some lovely photos at MF! I admire how your new blanket looks on your bed. After being with a church study group I went out to Carver to see the property L&G closed on...sooooo much work to do. I got my car washed and now it is being rained on! xx

  15. Hi Teresa,

That blanket sure is looking beautiful. Like I said before, I can’t believe how well the colors match the bed linens. I’m so sorry about your scissors. That must have been heartbreaking. And just after you told us how much you love them.

Isn’t it crazy how frozen everything is? We are in another winter storm watch beginning about noon tomorrow. I have to go up the hill to the back doctor to get injections again and my appointment is for noon. I’m praying I get up and down the hill before the worst of the storm hits. Once I get back on the northside where we live, I can usually get around without too many problems and I’m hoping the pain isn’t so bad that I can get a couple of errands done before I am snowed in again.

I would love to visit that castle. Maybe someday. I’m hoping to go back to England before too long if I can ever travel again.

    Many blessings, Betsy

  16. Wow your blanket is looking gorgeous! And I'd just been admiring your pretty scissors on your last post when I saw this....oh noooooo! All part of life with a puppy isn't it...but they do always choose the things you wish they hadn't to chew up it seems! My dog always went for the most expensive reels of thread (never the cheap basting thread!) and chewed them up in a few minutes! Or the new balls of yarn, not the half used ones! Happy week and keep cosy xxx

  17. Such a shame about the scissors. The views of the falls are a real delight, stunning. Your blanket is also stunning, looking forward to seeing the border.

  18. Sorry about your scissors. Our dogs chewed my favourite leather sandals beyond repair one night. My fault, I had left them next to the dogs beds providing them with a tasty chew. I loved those shoes but loved our dogs more as you do.

  19. So sorry about your scizzors but at least she didn't hurt herself...a cat of ours when I was small once swallowed a needle...luckily she survived after surgery! Luckily neither Billy or Bear when he visits touch a thing so everything is safe. Your blanket looks perfect on the bed! Hugs xxx

  21. I'm loving your blanket so far and look forward to seeing the border Lucy's come up with. I'm thinking about crocheting a new blanket for our bed (I looked on Ravelry the other day and saw that the Granny Stripe one I made was finished in November 2011), but if I do, I'll use the eight colours that are in our bedroom curtains and duvet cover.

  23. So sorry about your beautiful scissors Teresa. Lets see, I think the sofa, rug, Little B's glasses, and that recent $640 bill for the emergency vet.....sigh!
